Just wondered whether other owners are experiencing copious car cleaning of late, seem every time I clean a car , no matter which one that just days later with even the slightest of damp/fine sleet in the air the whole car gets covered in a sahara brown dust and leaves the car looking like it hasnt been cleaned for weeks ....so disappointing ......maybe its just this area as we live on the most eastern part of the UK in Suffolk

Don't know how true this is. Certainly seemed worse the last couple of years around here:
Over the last few years councils have taken to using molasses in their road grit. Whilst the properties of treacle clearly lend themselves perfectly to helping grip, they do not inspire cleanliness. This diluted molasses mixes with rainwater and mud to leave a dark film sprayed across vehicles.

Same in Weymouth…if poor Mr Grace (Richard, not Captain Peacock’s boss) could see the GC now, he’d be horrified! Can’t be bothered washing it until I know we are going to use it though.

Never heard about using molasses with road grit, but a few years ago drove through a puddle of molasses unknowingly, dropped by a local farmer.
It was sprayed up the side by the front wheels and I had a panic attack that the car had dumped a load of engine oil and it was sprayed up the side!
Took some getting off, connected my pressure washer to my hot water tap, did the trick.

Same in north west London. If the car is properly waxed, I find you can do more frequent 10-15 minute cleans just by hosing down (I have a Karcher pressure washer), spray with something like demon shine or Chemical Guys after-wash and then gently wiping off with a waffle-weave micro fibre towel

Microfibre Waffle Weave Drying Towel, Car Cleaning/Detailing Quick Dry Cloth LARGE SIZE (60cm x 80cm) https://amzn.eu/d/7dGJaYn
