Hey, Eb (et. al)...our little farm here has had chickens and ducks for a while; dabbled in some cattle meat production with partners...decided to explore some other livestock options. Ruled out pigs, as a friend of mine's brother was eaten by some...and for other reasons. Got three male pygmy goats...no clue why. Wife started getting into fiber art, one thing led to another...and we met a lovely-ish 85 year old woman who was looking to thin her Huacaya herd, and a dude who had a solitary, lonely, and confused Suri...and one shearing season and one breeding season under our belts! Not quite sure where it's going...but they are quirky, docile, and full of personality. They respect borders to the extent that a piece of string stops them cold; the mating ritual will scar some of us for life; and seeing their faces paralyzed in crazy positions (temporarily) after getting into a spitting fight...absolutely hypoallergenic; no odor; and they even decide on a communal wasting area. And their dung can go straight into whatever, no composting or aging required...we got 10' tall tomato plants in five gallon buckets filled with nothing but 'paca poo...ooooo! Alpapcas! Tell me more!
