Is this the voltage regulator on the alternator?
Yep, that exactly.
Never dared hit the limiter!
It's not a bundle of laughs, but.....

This can't be bought separately can it? It's part of the alternator I believe.
Think I'll just bite the bullet and get the alternator, it's not too pricey: https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/270972/maserati/325296/alternator.html
i'd be carfeul around these parts with that kind of driving, mods easily upset...Never dared hit the limiter! Done 5k revs tho, sweet spot for proper paddle-ups....

Pretty heinous crime in my book

Why not get the battery load tested just to be sure. If it's gone punk and pulling too much, the alternator struggling....
Had exactly your symptons and ignored them. Car expired in central London. Was extremely fortunate to have just turned off the main arteries when the battery ran out of juice. Very disconcerting watching your car expire while still driving!
I believe others have advised against reconditioned alternators, but you may have better luck...
New alternator!I was getting a System Voltage High code so that might have been the case, but I bought a new battery and it had no effect at all.
What was the fix in the end? Mine is slowly dying before my eyes, last night the windows were struggling to go up while the interior light flickered.

Each to their own of course, but suggest you try out the entire spread of revs on offer. My own base model QPV 4.2 is a civilised but sporty saloonup to 5k. From there to the redline it just makes me laugh out loud and think I am a race driver. Somewhere around 5200rpm the magic happens and rate of climb increases. Every gear change take at redline starts again from this point. Like a race car. In my 5 metre long, double glazed, leather lined Limo. Ridiculous and pointlessly childish. No wonder many do not visit that zone of the tachometer.Interesting same year as mine! Only took mine to 5k revs so cant comment but will be interesting to hear opinions! Did it sound gd?
Changed my own alternator and would not care to do it again Sent mine away for refurb and it is still working 18 months later.
