Stay safe Chris, grass hay fever is starting to peak around now, mine is a specific tree (don’t know which for sure) I was well underway yesterday even with antihistamine onboard.

Never even used to get it. Must be getting old!

apparently nothing to do with age, thinking is it goes in about an 11 year cycle; personally I have been getting progressively more symptoms since I was 18, cannot say I have noticed any cycles as such. Generally I have gradually become more reactive to allergies across the board. These days I cannot touch fir trees of any kind without reacting, any time of year. That used to be sweaty summertime only and photo reactive. Fortunately treatment for me is easy with antihistamine when it all gets too much. I probably get by with half a dozen tablets a year.

It seems I may have been bitten over night. I wonder if there's a link.

We'll never know.

Rub it down, use a medium grit paper to smooth off those edges. The GAMI (Get a man in) method would be to send them off for a paint stripper dip. You could use Nitromors, a blow lamp and scraper to get the old paint off. Used to love doing that as a kid for my Dad. The chemicals didn't do me any harm...
As above.
With a door that gets lots of weather and sun you need to rub down an paint yearly.
Do it like that and you will end up qith a mirror shine like N10.
I would for speed and ease of working ,remove said door and place on tressles , remove door furniture ,and take to it with a belt sander, for any mouldings it's hand sanding , apply knotting sealer to any knots prime and undercoat accordingly , being a front door you should probably rehang it before top coating and replacing furniture ,hope that helps

Thanks very much guys.
Most of the current paint is in pretty good condition so I'm tempted to rub down, but not remove the "good" paint, and fill any imperfections. Then paint. However, I will need to wait until another wave of boredom hits me till i get the motivation to do this!
Thanks again.

In other news, work has been going from bad to worse this week.

I had a meeting with our head honcho (my boss's, boss's, boss), it was a call for 8 of us. In 7 years, I've only had one other call with him. These are pretty rare in a company of our size. I was unwell and completely forgot to attend. I sent him an apology, no response.

Given how hard I've been working during this lock-down, compared to others, it is frustrating and disappointing that I've messed up something so simple that will definitely result in him taking a dim view of me. There's nothing i can do about it now. But, its little things like this that stick in people's mind and damage their opinion of you.

That's pretty much wrecked this week.

I've actually not even wanted to post it on here I was so mortified with myself.

Life goes on and all that...

Morning all, more WFH having remote arguments is not the same as face to face ones

This talk of green bins don't get me started - they don't have them here as they're all farmers.

So I have had to build a couple of composters, got a decent garden shredder to break down the big stuff. The biggest issue is grass cuttings which are more difficult to breakdown but we seem to be keeping the balance of mulching, composting at the moment but we will see how we get on through the summer.

Morning all. Not sure what to do today, just waiting for stuff at the moment.
  1. The call from the local garage to tell me the ML is done and what the financial damage is.
  2. My local bike shop to tell me my bike is fixed.
  3. Large work thing No.1
  4. Large work thing No.2
  5. Hotels and schools to re-open.

Might as well just go down the pub all day. Oh......:(

Chin up, these things happen.
You sent an apology and that’s fair enough. Keep doing the right thing- pretty sure it won’t detract from your value to the company you work so hard for.

You're not the first and you won't be the last. Blaming illness is the right thing to do, death's door, CV19, whatever.

Keep buggering on and you'll soon enough find a way to bask once more in the golden glow of your own talent.

To be fair in the hierarchy of things your boss is at fault for not assisting your memory! And if **** comes rolling downhill it should hit two levels before it gets to you? If head honcho gets personal about it then it sort of undermines the two levels between you and him?

If it were me I'd be just as contrite, but I'd also make sure I had a portfolio of all my successes readily to hand.

No excusing missing the call as even if sick, you could have excused yourself earlier (I'm wearing my corporate hat for that bit)

But no harm in being able to point out, if any one needs reminding, that in all other ways you are outstanding!!?
