Oxygen very different from ventilators. I can almost 100% guarantee there will never be ventilators there for a myriad of reasons - most importantly - there won’t be staff to man them. Very specialised skill set both nursing and medical wise. You don’t just hook them up. Even experienced anaesthetists can’t man a ventilator with significant confidence. Being on a ventilator is a totally different ball game to having an oxygen mask from a cylinder you can have at a local church fete.

No idea how they will staff it, but the plan IS for ventilators .

What was it the Apollo 13 crew made from bit in the command module? Was that some for of ventilator?

CO2 scrubber. Not really the same.

As I understand it the difficulty with ventilators is being able to sufficiently inflate and deflate the lungs without things going pop, forcing air into the bloodstream or too little pressure a basically suffocating them.

Plenty of toilet roll in Sainsbury’s today but no bread flour.

We always make our own bread and have never had an issue before. Is this the latest panic buying craze? Because I find it difficult to believe that Chardonnay knows yeast can be found somewhere other than her pants.

This is all getting tedious now and really worrying in isolation.

I brought home a massive fold out map of the world.
I pinned it up in the kitchen and gave the missus a dart.
I told her wherever that dart lands I'll take you for a two week holiday once all this coronavirus has finished........
It appears we're spending two weeks behind the fridge.

Exactly. Have heard it will mainly be manned in the main by volunteers (again may be wrong)- but that will need very selected patient groups and no ventilators that’s for sure!
My understanding talking to some people on the inside so to speak is that this field hospital will be fully functioning with a triage section, ICU and recovery sections with patients being brought direct by ambulance to it. So seemingly its going to have the full span of capability not just a recovery 'over spill'. Of course they will still have the issue of finding enough PPE , ventilators and trained staff to run it.
