I doubt many employers will pay sick pay, contractual sick pay, when you might not be sick but have to self isolate because you might be. Hence the SSP in this case. If you are sick and diagnosed, yes contractual sick pay.
You only self isolate, at the moment, if you have returned from anywhere in Italy after the 9th of March, Iran, Hubei in China, or Daegu, Cheongdo or Gyeongsan in South Korea in the last 14 days . No other places, unless you have symptoms, in which case you will be sick, so surely sick pay provision, if you have it, will apply.

Went into Sainsburys Penrith today and to be honest the shelves were in pretty good shape although the toilet roll section was significantly depleted. But I could get everything else....like a normal weekly shopping day.
I don't understand this toilet roll thing.
what are showers for?

Did you really expect anything less ? Not a daft thing to do, only said daft as I’m not sure how to spell illogical and afraid some one on here will pick me up on it.

My friend next door was confirmed positive today. He returned from a holiday in Italy last Wednesday felt like **** that lasted for a few days. Now he is feeling pretty much OK. He self isolated himself when he returned from Italy, so hasn’t put anyone locally in danger. Here’s the rub, he thought he would be told just to continue self isolating for a specific period of time, especially now that he is feeling good, but no. He lives in Dundee, and an ambulance was sent to take him to a hospital in Aberdeen! He has been told he will remain there until he is confirmed clear of the virus.

Wait until the the last minute, then make a decision based on how things are, it will likely even be decided for you, so maybe no decision to make. Keep all your options open, my job takes me all over the Far East, last week I made a potentially life changing decision based logic. (Risk assessment). If you are even slightly concerned about the status of things the UK, why would you travel elsewhere right now.

That's a bit too close for comfort

Same thing happened to John Hurt ,it got in through the mouth, he felt fine after a few days, sat down to dinner then boom , keep your eye on him.
