I think Dean and Dan have the measure of it.
why not have a Risqué corner. With a caveat that potentially offensive posts/subjects will be removed but it’s an area for anything none cars that may be a bit off the wall. Tough one really. I’ve only ever seen a few posts where I sort of looked through my fingers. I won’t open the pic of the day thread at work, just in case, but admittedly have seen worse on others computers.

The irony lol, listen peeps read it or don't read it, everyone has an opinion like it or not, im sure someone's opinion here won't affect your daily life, it's a bloody car forum for gawds sake, is it real life? Your real life? Nah, at the end of the day who cares. Chill brothers.

There's another driver, though, isn't there?

Apologies Conaero for taking so long to respond with the only opinion that really matters.

It’s taken considerable courage to overcome my shyness since coming out as “Bi-national” which is why I haven’t commented up till now.
here’s my tuppence worth.

I think JonW and AndyK hit the nail on the head.

In my view threads need to be marked NSFW else I risk a disciplinary at work for clicking a thread about cars and instead finding pictures of half-naked ladies on there. There are filters that scan photos for skin-tones, so it's easy to punished without any intent.

Question is, does the forum

- care about anyone who works for a reasonably large company, getting in trouble?

- want to have NSFW marked threads, as it may simply encourage more NSFW content.

- actually want NSFW content at all, or does the forum filter for skin tones.

Frankly, with the amount of freely available **** and suggestive photos on the internet, I don't really need this forum as another source of titillation. Not saying I don't like it though!

I suppose one solution is for NSFW pictures to always be links, not inline images. Either through the poster linking to an image, not pasting an image, or through some clever forum s/w technology. Perhaps there could also be a 'NSFW' warning. Then users get to choose what to view.

Ok I’ve had some updates from other/newer members PM’ing me.

Although on the whole, comments are positive it has been raised, as feared, that the newbie members are apprehensive to post for fear of the core members ‘pack mentality’

Is this a problem that exists on all such forums, yes, is this at a worrying level, no.

Still no input from our female members. I know a couple so will contact them.

Thank you for the work/pics issue. I was not aware of this specific issue and will add it to the list of considerations.

Keep em coming...

I have to say I don't recall anything that would risk discipline where I work other than a 'don't really do that again' in terms of pics. Ross, you must have some really strict AUP's!

Thanks mate. The work NSFW picture issue is a big one.

I almost crapped myself when I opened one post, I just sat their waiting for HR to hand me my notice!

Re race/minorities/age.

I'm not a 50's white male. I joined here in my 20's (now 30's) and am not white.

Have I been offended on the race front in the forum?
Not really.

Have I thought some of the comments are stereotypical of older white men, and a little 1970's?
Occasionally yes.

Am I organising a drinking session in a pub to meet all of you folk?
Yes

The only thing that's actually annoyed me on this thread is the assumption that everyone on the Forum is a white male, from people I've met that's simply not true. I've always liked the place because of it.

There are some pics on here that would get you at least a very stern warning in my company. Never really thought about the fact that there’s an automated way of knowing though!

We're obviously laxer than I realised!

Technically the NSFW tag is tricky if people have different views of what's SFW. Certainly some of the attitudes displayed have been pre-historic, and some of the pictures illustrate a time gone by, and those attitudes.

It's more just the embarrassment of opening a page and suddenly it's got some half-naked woman on it.

All interesting feedback.
My little Company must still be back in the 70'S from when I started working in 78.
As regards ladies on here I can only remember two.
Andrea right from the early days a lovely professional lady who I met several times and sincerely hope that's why she is not here anymore.
Blondie and her lovely yellow Strad.
