Driving in France

Got a wedding in France to attend, NW of Paris, considering all options, maybe a drive in the QP for the adventure. Been on RAC/AA etc sites, seem 'what you need' is very onerous, the most worrying bit aside from the hi-vis jackets, triangles etc, is spare headlamp bulbs, how you do that with the Xenon or halogen ones that are on the QP? Expected to have spares for those?

Still have to have yellow headlamps?

Yellow head lights... not for over 25 years.

You should have a spare bulb kit but in they will not check it matches your car!

Yellow vest in the car not the boot and breath kits. .. you can pock up a full kit from rhe AA or Holfords.

I would recommend getting a TAG to save the wait at the tolls. You can rent these or borrow feom other forum members as long as you pay the toll bill.

Grand!

Anyone done the Eurotunnel? I've done Eurostar but that's it. Do you sit in the car while it does the tunnel bit?

I did the tunnel last year, far easier than I thought it would be, drove into the terminal and literally 40mins later we were on the French motorway, if you arrive early it usually gives you an option to take an earlier train too. As for the other stuff I just bought one of those kits of the bay of e, about £30 including fire extinguisher etc. Also have a toll tag if you need.

The tunnel is excellent. Stipulate that you will have a long vehicle.... i think it is an option like van or with trailer... so that you go on a single wide deck to accommodate your width and ramp clearance

Is that extra cost?

For info I'll be taking the A16 Calais to Dampnesnil where the Wedding is. Nice to go to wedding and not a funeral these days.....

Is that a toll road?

Cool Lozzer, I'll PM for tag when we've decided, seem best option for me, cracking drive!

One other wee think, I have NI reg car, no GB sticker (cos NI is not in GB) - issue? Or should I just get a sticker? I fancy those chrome on black ones you used to see, remove it when I get back, looking at magnetic. Do I need front and rear or will I get away with it? Don't fancy arguing the differences between UK, GB, IRL and the 1801 United Kingdom Acts of Union between GB and Ireland to a Gendarme on the hard shoulder.....
