I don’t know why but every time Remainers shout, “ let’s vote again cos blah blah blah”, I imagine the leader of a Banana Republic doing exactly the same thing after the vote he organised didn’t quite go his way.
What does banana republic have to do with... does it apply to primark and the gap too?

A couple of points if I may
Approximately 1/6 of Uk is built upon according to a good knowledgeable friend of mine but I would need to check (no time off for coffee) and
The North East of England has been ignored by many governments and we did indeed want to kick the incumbents up the **** - one reason.
Austerity is still here just take a walk around Middlesbrough.
I am in a privileged position thank goodness but I can still see the inequity around me and when I visit the S East (London) it is a different world altogether.

And we think the same headache or the same equivalent barriers won’t apply when it comes to planting, fertilising, irrigation etc... let alone labour.
I think if we think we can plant chips & beans trees overnight we are in lalaland too

People think that farm land is “natural”. Just look at the hassle of getting HS2 route through the Cotswolds. That landscape is entirely man made just in the same way as the Black Country or Central London. It was built for sheep farming it didn’t fall out of Genesis looking that way.

It has to do with “respecting” a vote......where you do your shopping doesn’t come in to it.;-)

I think the votes in Parliament a couple of days ago were a good sign that Brexit will happen on 29th, they rejected the amendments that would delay Brexit beyond that date.

Yes Wattie but why are you still unhappy with the result? You are getting what you voted for no? Brexit is happening.....you keep telling us this is what 17.4million voted for and wanted (to leave the EU). Suely we can agree on that no? Having the cake and eating it is another matter.....I don’t understand why you are unhappy........

No deal or me...and I've realised this is what was going to happen months ago.

EU refuse to bend so the no deal is triggered. They should be told they wont get their divorce payment until a new deal is struck in the interim period.

Fed up of being bullied by the EU, and the reason so many of us wanted out in the first place!

Spin on a few years and depending upon what deal we get it will go one of too ways:
1. UK left out in the wilderness and struggle on through tough times
2. UK flourish, other EU countries look onwards and start stamping feet to leave too. This then puts the UK top of the pile with the exiting EU countries and brings about the end of the EU project.

The EU know this and will do everything to protect their project and this requires failure of the UK Brexit....well, wouldn't you if you were the EU?

We aren’t being bullied by anyone. But

That’s a good point, if the divorce payment is part of a deal and we leave without one presumably we pay nothing?

How did they bully us? I don’t understand. We had our pound permanently, we had our veto and vote, we had a say and the best position over and above everyone else in the block so really we are losing a lot, 39 billion is the red herring that you’ll watch being paid too.....we have already signed up to paying those commitments...

I find it all strange as we have had 73 Politicians in the European Parliament and all their assistant's there supposedly working for us.
How has it gone so horribly wrong ?

For only the third (I think) time in history we gave the British electorate a direct say in policy.

Being in New Zealand at the time I can say I took no part in this sorry affair.
Putting myself back in Europe I'm really concerned for family and friends around this side of the World.

Ignored? Or a lack of understanding that changing policy takes time?

These days everyone wants everything NOW!!!! And if they don't get it NOW, then they feel like they are being ignored.
NOW? It went on for years with the various governments and the EU ignoring people's concerns.
I'm not pro-leave or pro-remain but people weren't happy, Cameron went to the EU to try to get some concessions and they in their arrogance told him to foxtrot oscar. Being in the EU has many plus points and we're entering into the great unknown but remainers saying the EU is exempt from all blame in this is something I don't agree with.

Just thinking out loud here.

Should we leave, and then the rest of the EU crumbles, financial strife everywhere, what are the chances of hostilities returning like in WW2?
Let's be fair, theres a fair amount of right wingers across Europe.

Right wingers are not restricted to just Europe. Right wing facism or extremism of any kind, knows no geographic borders or boundaries....unfortunately people will feed whatever extremism fits into their dialogue or agenda, if they are so inclined. Hence the grey area of who is moderately so or fully committed so and if they agree to the same direction...

The thing is Geoff if they can't behave themselves and they feel the need to start going to war with each other again shows us what type of people we are dealing with on the contienent.

I don't think anyone wants war so I really don't think in a civilised democracy that this has any chance of happening. I use the word 'Civilised'

We will still want and continue to trade with Europe and vice versa.

Europe know we have the backing of the US and with that lunatic in charge its not a button the EU would push.

Putin also wants the downfall of the EU to gain back ex Eastern Block countries this is the area that needs to be handled carefully.

You could have got that straight from the mouth of a British politician in the 1930s

Are we really more civilised than in 1914 or 1939 or 1991?

Yes, I believe we are. Wars cost heavily in both funds and human life and never yields the end result expected.
