Can you explain a little more... what do the brackets do?
I was invoiced for 5 hours plus materials to fit the x pipe and cut out the decats and replace with straight pipes. When I questioned it, it was reduced to 4 hours, but tbh it still seemed like overkill to me and hence the reason I have asked the question on here.

U initially asked the question only regarding the X pipe - didn't mention the decats.
That would easily be another 1 hour to remove/refit plus the effort in welding in straight pipes - 3 hours would be reasonable plus materials
