Sure are...A mate had an E46 M3 and it went in the first week he owned it..Warrenty but think it was about 3k back then...

Like lots of faults in other cars, you can choose to ignore a rattling vanos for at least a while. It's only when the vanos causes running issues that you need to take note. My E30 M52 engine has a single vanos which I checked thoroughly before buying. If it packs up it's not the end of the world with Mr Vanos able to fix it at a reasonabe cost.

Didn't they make a LHD version or was that the one before...Ah yes that was the one before........I would have an E60 Touring over the 4 door...

Looks good in E39 flavour. I'm surprised BMW never put this car into production given they'd already done it to the previous E34 and then continued with the E61. Lots of converted cars around though, although apparently they are a huge amount of work to do properly, mainly due to the wiring:

Happened in Hungary - rear tyre blowout at 180kph. Car flipped twice but everyone inside walked away without a scratch!
