Wow!! What can the previous generation E39 be had for in decent condition? I remember leggy ones getting to £10k, must be the better ones at that level now.

I'd find a use for an E60 at £10k :)

a good e39 will fetch 10k Lewis and sh1tter about 5/6k.

E60 is a performance bargain, the best ones are ataround 18k with about 65k miles on the clock. All sports saloons have taken a tumble, RS4's can be had for 20k.

My bro sold his earlier this year. It was (I think) a 55 plate, only had something like 30k on it, Saphire black with Sepang Bronze leather, cracking spec on it, he's spent thousands and thousands on it....IIRC he got £21k for it.

Thats a lot of car for the money! He got fed up of putting £100 of juice in it a couple of times a week just to get to/from work and do the school run. Awesome cars, but they do like a drink.

Not far from where I come from, I know the area. Wouldn't look forward to going there! Got a list of stock that I will never have. There's certainly a lot of money on his forecourt.

Dont think Vanos is on the V10 Dem, as far as i know it is only on the S54 engine whch is the 3.2 Straight 6 E36 M3 and Z3M engine. It is £800 to put right, there is a specialist who does it, 2k at a dealer.

E36 M3s were fitted with either the S50B30 3.0 engine or the S50B32 3.2 engine in the later Evos. Z3M & M Coupe also had S50B32. The 3.0 is a single vanos engine; the 3.2 is dual vanos. The S54B32 was fitted to the later E46 M3 and is also a dual vanos engine. For anyone in BMW circles, Mr Vanos is the guy who is best known to sort issues at a lower price than main dealers.

Woody and our cars don't like to drink the juice too because mine certainly does although at the minute she is showing 15.5 which is good for me.

Just checked out Mr Vanos certainly knows his vanos inside and out and has a good website.

Oh aye, they do! But I dont use mine to do 300 miles a week pottering around town :) He changed his M5 for a X5 diesel which apparently is much better. Still, its an X5 diesel and not an M5.

For me personally, while fuel is expensive, I enjoy driving so pay it. I remember a few years back, I had a Vectra and resented putting fuel in it...to the point I'd permenantly do splash-and-dash re-fills...every £10 I resented because I didnt really enjoy it.

With you on that Woody i have enjoyed every mile in my 4200 especially the ones in Europe.
Life is exspensive but i do enjoy driving my cars.
Having worked for various manufacturers i had a laugh refueling the 4200 last weekend when the young guy in the garage said to me you drive a Maserati you have a Honda jacket and a Hyundai shirt on. Who do you work for?
I said the car is mine and i work for anyone who will pay me.
Phil.
