What a great 4200 - and a great price.

Well 12 months on and she is up for sale again at the same dealer with an extra 3k miles on the clocks. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ars/model/4200/make/maserati/page/1?logcode=p

States a new clutch has been fitted and last serviced at 70k...however the devil is in the detail. That service was carried out by Emblem just before I sold her in March 2011!!! So not even an oil change in almost 3 years. OK its only 5k miles but that's a lot of condensation and carbon build up that has been sitting in the fluids.

I would suggest it needs a major service...Wonder who did the clutch...and for god sake I only had the wheels fully stripped and painted for sale and he has them done in matt black...looks shite TBH.

If anyone wants a full run down on the car let me know and I would be happy to help as long as the wheels go back to standard!

Looks like 7-spoke alloys, but calls them 15-spoke. The black does not go with that blue at all...get them back to standard and (as long as the grey leather looks good in the flesh, never liked it in photos) it's a great car.

There was a little wear on the drivers bolster but apart from that it was 100%...and it does look so much better in real life than in the photos

the gap in servicing wouldnt concern me too much seeing as its only done 5000 miles.

When I spoke to the dealer last year he stated if it did not sell he would keep it for himself...which looks like the way things went...even the rear tyres look like the same Verdi' I bought of Dem.

The last check that Emblem did on the car in March 2011 it was in tip-top condition with nothing advised to be done...if he has looked after it and kept it under cover it would be a great entry into Maser ownership esp as it appears to have a new clutch.

Agree, the black is too much, I'm looking to go mercury on mine which is the same sebring blue, I'm hoping this will look right?

Was it a Cars Exeter registered vehicle Peter, it has a very close original plate to mine?

It was indeed Newton, first owner in the SW then moved to west London then to Clane then yours truly...took me a while but I got all the documented history including almost £10 of warranty work over the years courtesy of Maserati and another £10k on service items.

Ahhh...Thread resurrection.

Back up for sale again and over the 4 years and 2 months since I sold it is has only done 5k miles. It has had a new clutch but no mention of a service???

It is a lovely 4200 (Well was in 2011 when I sold her) and maintained by Emblem prior to sale...still has those horrid black wheels though.

If anyone is after a low price 4200 and wants to know about this one PM me.

Looks nice but i am wondering why the ad states that the engine light "is on and has been on for years" yet there is no fault with the car on the diagnostic?

The car has moved from Nottinghamshire in the last year so I have no idea how the new seller knows its been on for years.

I also know it has been sorned since last summer.

I suspect that the lack of use and just 5k miles in the last four years will have buggered up the emisions and Lambas.

A major service and a good thrashing is whats needed.

You are probably right Peter but I think no one I'm their right mind will buy a maser with the engine light on unless it's someone who knows their way around Maseratis and has access to diagnosis equipment.

It only needs a universal OBD2 code reader to check for fault codes and reset. Would not be happy with that.
Actually having a code reader if I was buying now I would plug it in and check for any pending fault codes, even with the engine warning light off!

Not sure if the other modules also light up the engine light but the standard obd reader usually only gets the engine related codes.
It won't show anything related to transmission, suspension or brakes
