Thanks for all your advice lads, the voice activation worked on the way down to the ace last week.

I'm still concerned about losing directions when a call comes through as I can get a good number of calls when travelling but need the visual at a minimum when on the phone, I know that I can enable voice commands when on the phone, but that is not enough, does anyone know a way around it?

I have the same gripe with Waze... my solution is to use my personal phone when doing business miles and my business phone when doing personal miles... not much of a solution if you do not run two phones like me

I don't think this is just Waze. Every sat nav app I've run does it.

Hi john. If your using an android phone then i think i have the solution.

Go into the android setting menu then select applications and then application manager. It will then populate with apps that are on your phone. Find the waze app and then go and select it. Then hit the permissions button and you will find the phone permission is turned off. Turn it on and then exit the permissions menu.

Once you have done that if you receive a phone call when your running waze a small drop down phone menu will appear if you get an incoming call. You can answer it and waze will continue showing the maps and navigation while your on the phone. Hope that achieves what you need.

Thanks Stuart, I'm running iOS and I can't see a way to disable it, so I'm going to send Waze a message and see what their thoughts are.

Yup. You don't even want to be touching your phone at all!!!! Even when you are stationary with the key in the ignition even with the engine off!!!

CONFIRMED by Essex Police:

**6 points and £200 fine for using a mobile whilst driving from 1st March 2017**

Advice to keep it simple:
- Keep your mobile in a craddle or glove box
- You cant touch the phone if its in a craddle,

UNCONFIRMED BY Surrey police

No wonder there's confusion , they say you can touch it but not using more than one finger

As is normal with British law it makes no sense, almost anything to do with a mobile phone gets you 6 points but holding a CB microphone in one hand while chatting away to the local prostitutes is fine and dandy

Seems like they think it is OK to use the inbuilt Sat Nav in the car but not Sat Nav on the mobile. Guessing using a non-inbuilt Sat Nav that is not your mobile such as a Tom Tom is OK?

Far too many variations here and no central govt direction. Why don't they just sit around a table for a few hours and ratify nationally what is acceptable and what isn't. At least we can then make an informed decision on what we should and shouldn't be doing.

Oh but that would be far too simple wouldn't it?! Why not confuse everyone and have lots of random anomalies instead. Much better!!

If, of course, you don't mind the observation - you seem remarkably well informed :blushed:
