Un loved Maserati

Fast on the heals of the £15k Gransport at Nuvola needing some love, and the £26k GT at another garage with trim damage, comes this 4200.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../maserati/usedcars/postcode/bs167as?logcode=p

Now I have never been a car sales man, or sold anything for a job (except jumble sales as a kid); however I really don't understand the point of dealers doing this unless there are some very gullible buyers out there.

If all it needs is a clutch then why not fit one and still charge £14k for the car?...even with a legal basic warranty you would make a little more...oh and I hate to think what the PX allowance was for the poor thing...£5k????

Then they say

To be fair this could be a really nice car, the photos look great and the interior has contrasting white stitching which looks amazing. If it needs £2k spend it'll still be good value IMO

The first Maserati I drove had the same trim finish... and I do love those 4200.

I may well be wrong but isnt this the same car they have been trying to sell for about 6 weeks. The pictures certainley look the same. if it is i think its was up at £16995 previously. The only thing i cant recall is if the previous listing on auto trader had dark wheels on it. If its the same one perrhaps the wheels were sent for refurb and then other things have come to light.

I think the other advert for at least a very similar car if not the same is listed in a thread somewhere.

Dicky may remember it or know the car.

Just watched a video of the car. I'm now 99% certain its the same car. When you watch the video as sales office door in the background of the video swings shut and a bloke walks past the door. I rember thinking why didnt they do a second take of that clip of video.

Same garage and same colour and it was up for double. Something must be broken!

The only reason I'd buy something like that would be:

A if I could work on it myself
B know someone who could at a competitive rate
C Had deep pockets

Better off buying one for more money with less question marks I would have thought.

As an aside, and stating the obvious, it isn't a facelift either.

No its no a face lift...As a 2004 for it was the first upgraded car....so sort of a face lift without the face lift. Maserati changed quite a bit on the late 2003 onwards cars mechanically so they have become the mrk2 version......There were 3 upgrades on the 4200...First one, then the mechanical upgrades on 2003/2004 then the face lift cars from 2004/2005...

Expensive against what my 2004 one cost even with putting the new oil/water pump in and shipping to NZ.
Maybe there's negotiating to be had.
