We have a bedroom above our double garage I have suggested fitting ramps so I can lift two into the space and then put two more underneath.

Mrs Z is not convinced, yet ;)

Am I right in thinking, that we've collectively persuaded Blondie to move house?

If so I think we should all help her move in to her new garage and to save on hiring a van we should use our collective boot spaces to lug her stuff.

Think of the garage warming party!!!

Hate to break it to you but MANY trips would be required. I have 347 pairs of shoes, 49 handbags....... Wonderful thought though. But I do like the idea of a garage warming party. Watch this space!

I have a double garage with the master bedroom above it. At the moment it has 1 x BMW R1200GS, 1 x Yamaha 450 Grizzly quad, 1 x Harley Davidson MT350 and 3 mountain bikes with loads junk too. Wifey's convertible lives outside and the GT/S has it's own heated industrial unit to live in which isn't too far from home. That way I can tell wifey I'm going to clean the car and she cant come and bother me. Result!

I have a spare garage and will happily ensure that the MCS is garaged every night for you free of charge. Flights to Glasgow on demand to drive her will be much cheaper than moving in Greater London.

OK, I've spent the day looking at houses with double garages. 11 houses and all but one the garages were too....... short????? The agent's suggestion was to leave the garage door open. Seriously? The agents think I'm mad. "What are your requirements?" "A double garage that is at least 5 metres in length. Oh, and 4 bedrooms but the garage is the most important." I've even left SW London behind and have ventured into Surrey. Ah well, the search continues........

Many moons ago I had a garage that was so narrow the only way in or out of the car was via the sunroof. When it came time to specify the garage for our current house I went with small bungalow sized.

Good luck with the search! I've been travelling to Surrey and the other day I used the train for a change. Took 10 mins longer to travel the 16 miles out of town than it currently takes me to get into the city from the sticks. Wifelet wants to move there; I want a Ferrari 250 GTO in exchange for having to suffer that journey.

After I got the rat home discovered that I didn't have a garage. The builder kinda put me on the spot asking how big do you want it? Tape measure in hand with the car on the drive (doors open), solved.

the chances of finding all your requirements in situ are pretty low imo. I would concentrate my search for the house to suit with enough space outside to build.......or look for a repair garage for sale with living space above lol:auto20:

I pay for a lock up and just go and swap cars at the weekend... works for me, but I'm seriously thinking about moving to a house with a double garage... my garage isn't big enough for my car AND the beer fridge, so my daughter's Nissan Micra goes in there... I'd have a small house and a big garage if it was up to me!

When we bought the current house we were asked our requirements, my response was lounge, kitchen, bedrooms and a big garage and space to park cars off road. The estate agent asked how many, to which I replied between 6 & 8, he started to rummage through his pile of possibles and then said I only have these few. When I looked at them I realised he was asking how many bedrooms not how many off road parking spaces did I need - silly man. :)
