I think I should make it clear that we are in a theoretical Stradale scenario, where Blondie is driving it (as per usual) and I am harnessed in the passenger seat making squeaking noises.

I suppose it is 'owner of the vehicle at the time of the offense' so it is no good the driver (Harry) giving or selling the car to the co-driver (Blondie) as the cops start to 'immobilise'.
Yes, having some documentation regarding who actually owns the car (i.e. not the driver) would appear to be important. The Q is, what form would that documentation take? If the V5 is (most likely) in the driver's name, then what would constitute acceptable evidence that the owner is someone else, ideally someone not on the trip?

Oh, that's why Blondie has harnesses, to stop you flailing around in terror.

Obviously the best option is to keep within the speed limit or at least within the 50 kmph over to avoid any chance of confiscation.

There were a number of drivers at Dieppe on Monday afternoon all complaining about a speed trap on the run in, most were clocked at around 170 kmph which on the Autoroute is just under the 50 mph limit and they received on the spot fines from €50 to €95. One was just over this limit and was being threatened with confiscation but it was the son driving his Dads car who was sat in the passenger seat, once the Gendarmes were aware of this, evidenced by a V5, they just fined them €150 and sent them on their way.

Yes, agreed, staying within the limit is the best way to avoid being stopped and not more than 50 kph over is the best way of keeping the consequences manageable. I just can't believe how quickly @Doohickey reversed past us all on the way up to Calais. It was reckless, I tell you, reckless.

More seriously, we generally cruised at an indicated around 98mph / 157kph, which I imagine is around an actual 150kph. It's the occasional spirited squirts where the issues hide!

So everyone should just swap cars at the start of the trip?

Actually £45-£90 is still cheaper than a track day , and well worth it if you dont get points :alan:

Huh...based on the crew here, I just assumed that (like me) no one had any assets in their own names...

Given people can assume and identify as different sexes, I imagine my Strad will be owned by Mrs Samantha Scaf this time next year and the v5 and sales invoice will reflect that.

V5 doesn't matter (in theory at least) as that only shows who the registered keeper is. The important thing is that someone else owns your car.

Best wishes,
Adriana

You should make a video. People will pay for that sort of thing!

Agreed, but it’s a no cost option with no consequence over here and would support the bill of sale.
