'fraid that name reminds me a tad of this forgotten piece of Russian car history: the Lada Samara Carlotta

The girl you knew and my car (not the red thing above) do seem to share a certain share of character

Latest I've heard was that AS Motorsport and/or Hurricane Motorsport (who's rebuilding the engine) had found the right rings, they made it a matter of principle to find the right ones.
I'll ask for some more info when I'm there in about 2 weeks
From memory pistons and rings worker out £172 or just rings which weren't available during covid £158 so it made it a no brainer , with the discount just over £1200

So next on the list of hurdles was finding a new flywheel. (see also some other threads on here)

With the help of @DLax69 , I found a new one at a somewhat reasonable price in the US, which arrived today.

Now this is not going directly to A.S. Motorsport, as together with a close friend whose business is restoring vintage Bentleys, Bugattis, Lagondas etc, we've taken up the plan to pick up where Maserati/Ferrari seem to be dropping the ball in parts supply. The company in question is used to creating parts from scratch (sometimes pictures at best) and reverse engineering, including entire gearboxes. No rookies then...
The flywheel is going in today to measure/3d scan, do some checks and analysis, as this will be our first case...
When life gives you lemons, make bloody limoncello!

I'll send you my address, if that would help? :)

Btw, next up is finding a windshield.
This might be the world's best GS Spyder in existence once (if?) it ever gets back on the road...
Here to help if I can...though it might be easier to just buy another whole car for parts. Which has crossed my mind more often than I'd like to admit.

Frankly, I must've said the exact same thing at least 5 times to Adnan already. The way parts are either unavailable or very expensive, this is starting to look more and more 'sensible' yet sacrilege at the same time. And that's where the inspiration came from...

My only concern now is what the rest of the car is conspiring to throw at you. These things don’t like not being used, especially the spyders. The roof is favourite for another soul destroying episode; they tend to seize up if not cycled regularly, and once that ******* starts playing up, my advice is to start drinking heavily. Still, at least you’ve had an early introduction into the world of a Maserati Martyr. The good news is, disasters don’t happen every week. The bad news is, it will happen again. I trust you still have a sense of humour, it’ll come in handy in the future. Good luck, and welcome to the club.

Bit of an update: car and engine are back at A.S. Motorsport, and Adnan and the team will take it further from here.
Where's here? Well have a look below...

Engine is being assembled (ASM team already installed a.o. the new oil/water pump), with the oil cooler to be repaired before that one goes back on as well.

For the eagle-eyed amongst you, you might spot the car in some of the pictures too :)

Dear God is that about 3 years you have been shelling out for the car? I trueley shudder to think what this has cost you not only cash wise but relationship
wise as well.
And i thought replacing my Oil/Water pump was a big deal! All I can say when the days comes and you put the hood down and drive the **** thing, your heart will sing.

Looks lovely and clean! No doubt Adnan’s team are doing a great job.

I see your car has side markers, is it a US car?

She runs! The engine is in the car and running.
Some initial issues were rapidly solve by Adnan and his team.
(I have a movie but can't upload it seems)

Video can’t be uploaded, but if you upload to YouTube (other video sharing sites are available), you can share a link.
