Well that was a mad hour! Woke up in a bit of a panic thinking it was Monday and I'd oversleped and not prepared for the trip! Gave Jeanette a cup of tea to be told it was Sunday!!!
Anyway I had a good day yesterday as I dug out my old lathe and did a full restoration of it, welded s frame to hold the lay-shaft pulley block and added some spreader feet to the stand to make the whole thing more stable, it is now stronger than ever and indeed I immediately put it to work to repair a large stainless steel spindle from a bit of play equipment and used the unique feature of a pivoting head stock to hang it out over the side and weld the plate back onto the spindle using the tool to true it up as I welded it. Great job done which will pay for my day and save the authority on the cost of a new one. Given that the lathe is 120 years old I'm chuffed to bits with it.
So having got my Sunday back I may wash a few cars.
Have fun all...
