looks like the bottom ball joint has pulled out of its socket? must have taken a pretty bad bang, or been worn for a long time? what was your steering like before this happened?

Hello Davy, no problems with steering at all, McGrath checked all suspension 3 months ago during service as other members had flagged up weak points on the forum.
Just drove from London to Kent, 2 miles after leaving motorway without any warning right hand side of car collapsed with a massive bang, wheel is damaged, tyre blown from track rod peircing inner wall and what ever else after it can be inspected.

Wow. Lucky that didn't happen 2 miles earlier.

Fingers crossed the fixing costs aren't too steep.

This is a worrying development and surely Maserat and VOSA need to re examine their responce to the wishbones on these cars.

Just glad you are OK and hope there is no damage to the body of the car.

Car year 2005 - mileage 26000 miles serviced regularly!
I don't believe for one minute this is going to happen more often than not but would highly recommend checking if you can,
With all the pot holes at the moment it's not really surprising!!

Glad you are ok and hopefully the car can be fixed without too greater expense. Surprising (and somewhat worrying) to see this happen to a car with such low miles.

It's like I've always said, mileage isn't any indicator of condition

A car that's been driven in a city stop start ,cold hot cold hot, speed bump speed bump will be worn more than one with 5x the mileage driven on a motorway

Something needs to be done by maserati or dvsa before somebody gets killed though

I note that a specialist had viewed and checked this area 3 months ago.
What a way to start Easter. Glad you are safe.

Thanks all for your concern, I'm fine and the car hopefully repairable without a kidney donation
This won't distract from the fact I still think these are beautiful cars which gives me a whole heap of pleasure, happy Easter

FFS not again. Just when my confidence in these cars was returning, if this had happened at high speed it would be game over!

Glad your ok.

Stick a report in to DVSA. It's a different fault to the wishbonegate saga. It shouldn't fail like that ever, let alone at 26k miles unless badly kerbed/hit a very deep pothole.

Tend to agree trev. Hopefully further examination will give some clue as to what went wrong. Still, glad all ok and it happened at low speed.

Good job it failed at low speed otherwise the consequences could have been disastrous. Glad you OK and the car is repairable
