Matt I had a client fined sometime ago with one of these and they threw the book at him as it wasn't just failure to display, it was something to do with pervert the course of justice or something similar like that, he got something like a £1000 fine and three points and had to take his vehicle for an extended MOT
If it was that easy then everyone would be doing it, but just having the ability to slide it out of the way was enough to get a heavy fine.
Not worth the risk.
