Spare Seat for Le Mans

Nice selection of Ducatis in there.

Did Le Mans twice. First time slept in the back of the car outside the track and was uncomfortable. Second time a tent in the camping ground. Nightmare. Apart from cold and uncomfortable every time a car went by on track the ground shook and got no sleep at all. Noise from other folk around having parties all night was the icing on the cake. Said if I was doing it again and staying at the track then I would hire a motorhome and get a soft bed and solid walls to block out the noise. Gite sounds a much better plan.

I remember going in 1978, it was no different then!

20 years ago I would have camped but not now.

If they sorted the 'facilities' out I might consider it but seeing as the French can't even get that right at the track there is little hope in the campsites.

We all differ but to me the best bit about Le Mans is the atmosphere and that includes the sounds of the cars, the like minded enthusiasts you meet, the madness that goes on around the event, the music, the cars & bikes etc, etc, etc,. The idea of staying in a gite or hotel off-site goes against everything that Le Mans is to me. The fact that I can get up anytime during the night and walk 5 minutes to the track to watch the race is essential to the experience.

The downside is the facilities although they have got so much better over the years especially the toilets, the **** holes in the ground have gone and the last few years the showers have even been hot. Yes there are queues at busy times but a bit of planning is all that is required and we still look forward to watching those who roll out of bed about 8:30 and rush down for that essential dump only to find a queue of 20 blokes in front of them.

Camping you either get or don't, I have never been uncomfortable nor cold at night, airbed, decent sleeping bag and proper tent see to that

Yep, that would be me so no thanks. A weekend of burgers and beer then finding myself in that scenario.

Back at the gite, Dave left the toilet seat up once in the en suite, but no other calamities since, thank god!

Dave left the toilet seat up once in the en suite,

Are you saying you sit down to Pi55?

There is that new 'privy poo' spray I saw advertised, I thought it was a wind up but I saw it in a supermarket. Basically spray into the bowl before depositing and no after whiff for the next user.

Very handy for those whose other half can leave a calling card

I've just heard back from a couple of potential candidates, and it would appear that logistically they can't make it, or their wives have put their foot down.

Either way, the seat (and accommodation etc) is still available.

I don't care which hotel you are talking about, there won't be burnouts and men in leather trousers (oo err) with water pistols and a water bomb catapult in your hotel room.

I'm camping as always, and near the tramway so that we can get into town.

Will be taking the Giulia QV which should be fun :)

Last time we camped we had a full PA system with mixing desk, projector etc etc

All fairly standard issue compared to some people's efforts!

I'm not sure I want to admit that a couple of us were playing signing a Zig and Zag song at about 2 am before taking pity on our campsite neigbours and going for a pint at the end of the Mulsanne straight bar to "wake us up again"

All of the above is why we camp, we are staying in Houx Annexe, we always do, so not far away

Last year we went with Travel Destinations using the Flexhotels (portacabin) on circuit. couldn't fault it. Showers and toilets brilliant along with quality food and drink. Last year was £800 All in with ferry. This year I think it's close to £1k.

I'v told you before Mark ,its the colour of your interior that's putting people off . Try offering them a blindfold and they might change their minds :as007:

Bump.

All those previously showing an interest have now fallen by the wayside.

We have a Le Mans bag of shame for anyone having to ride shotgun in something shite, last time it was used was for an Alfisti coming down in a BMW.

Mind you tonight I see the what my transport this year is now the 250 California rep has been sold
