the double decker carriage is basically the same size entrance its just that you have a roof on it and you only have one entry point where as the single deck there is no roof and you can drive right through the train and come out the other side of the platform.
it just "looks" smaller /bigger due to perception. i use both quite often.

I will have to try it one day, but Lady Stig has an aversion to being under water, so I struggle to get her near it, never mind under it..??

You don't have to tell me Frank, I could force her on but I would be definitely wounded by the time I reached the other side, long sharp nails mate..!!
If I tried the fish thing she would rip the roof of the car off....!!!

Ply here with some fine wine at the terminal......not a lot different to getting on a plane....and 100 times safer......

Like the idea of the wine, but as you well know Frank, she can put some wine away, I might need a case and that would be around the same price as another ticket, so I am between a rock and a very hard place..!!:f10:

Blu... Can you send me your email address by PM and I will try to send you the routes...do you use TomTom, or Garmin..??

Cheers Hodroyd, PM sent. Will be using the Maser sat nav but may take TomTom as back up and of course a good old fashioned map!

Thanks for the info Cobratwin,
I've been told to join the queue for high vehicles that way you get a single deck, which is wider/easier to get on. Not by the sound of it!

Just to pick up on Cobratwin's earlier post, the double-deckers do have a tighter turn in and yes, the kerbs are lower, but still high enough to catch a 19" wheel. Did my front passenger wheel on the return from Le Mans trying to get straight for the run down the carriages.

I may be a cr@p driver, but it still cost me a ton to sort, so my advise would be to go for the single decker if you can, as at least there is more turn in.

Miles......can you ask at check-in or have to change booking?

P

I think those that went for the single-deckers put their cars down on the booking as having roof luggage, but I believe you can ask at check-in as well, based on low profile tyres.

Emtee post is right.
you must book your car as having a roof box and when you check in use the Auto Check-in to avoid being moved into normal carriage .
your loading sign, which goes onto the interior mirror will display the boarding letter and the ^ symbol showing your booked onto the double hight carriage. If you don't pre book this and its busy you will be bumped onto the double decks.

So there is a difference in the entry / exit to some carriages then, this is confusing. Miles, you're not a **** driver mate, I can testify to that, you're almost as good as me.....!!!!!
Blu,
I have sent you the routes, they will not load in to the Maser system, they will load in to the TomTom and use the Itinary File as far as I remember, load them and then open the itinary tab and you should see them in there.
Cheers

I nicked my nearside front a few weeks back, trying to get out of the way of a beligerant bus, just caught the kerb very slightly and now have about an inch scrape, I'm hoping it might polish out..??

Did the Rote again last Sept...and blessed again with he weather...always stop for lunch at a small town with a castle above. but can't recall the name...there is a nice bistro to the left of the main road with a good carpark next to it...sun, salad and a nice small beer whilst sat next to the car with many miles of clear mountain roads ahead...what could be better?

When I took the Tuscan last year they directed us to the lower deck along with a porker and aston going out and coming back we were again separated from the pack to the very front of the train, so I assume they know what they are doing. There was loads of room just take it slowly.
We also booked premium boarding which meant we could choose any train saving the huge queues, Tuscans don't like idling in hot weather and neither do I with two 6"manifolds the other side of 4mm of fibreglass.
