It's a fair bit earlier - pre WWII. It was used as a training base during the war - don't know the year it opened though.

Skegness 1936 is the right answer. It got requisitioned by the War Ministry during the war and they told him to build more during the war but he asked only if he could turn them into holiday camps after the war. He was one of the UK's first Billionaires, I believe...
