Sticking with music. Which album by which artist had the first US CD ever pressed.

Oh I like the wording, nicely put to avoid the various answers this question can raise but still need clarification first CD pressed in the US or first CD sold in the US but pressed somewhere else?

First pressed in the US. It also served as a ceremonial event to mark the opening of a new production plant if that helps.

Must be around 1980 time? I bought my first CD player in '83 which came with a voucher for 10 CDs, I couldn't find 10 I wanted at the time! Choice was very limited.

If the clue is in the question maybe "artist" is a hint. A solo artist rather than a group perhaps?? I was going to guess Michael Jackson & Thriller but that was '83 not '84 as indicated. Assuming an American, and a guess at that, I'd put at least 5 pence on Springsteen - Born In The USA.

We have a winner. Bruce Springsteen with Born In the USA.

The First pressing run being the opening ceremony of CBS records new production site. I think it was in Tusla or Tennesse but cant quite remember where.

Your question Navcorr.

Should've put 10 pence down :)

Would someone else care to step in as the day today started yesterday. The best I could come up with would be infantile at best. Nothing new there but we've had a run of good questions lately and don't want to let the side down.

Perhaps a MrPea question given the earlier Morissette comment .... really MrPea, I mean really ;)
