Yes, and yes although I'd like something a little more precise than Benny's generalised loathing of the entire nation :)

Nothing wrong with loathing an entire nation - Aussies at Uni. & Edinburgh were/are a constant source of displeasure :banghead1:
Plus best mate from school emigrated there and almost overnight turned into a complete pr*t.

But the French deserve to be hated

Hmm well

Leaving that aside, we seem to have not got as many QI watchers on here as I thought. Difficult to give a clue, so I'll give it to Benny as it derives from nappe pliée, folded sheet.

I hate to encourage him, though

Ok guys, here's an easy one; who were the 4 original members of Dire Straits and what were their 1st 2 albums called?

Can only think of one band member and it's probably wrong as too obvious
As for the Album, it would be wrong as well, because he is on it

The Knopfler brothers + 2 others. 1st = Dire Straits. 2nd = ?
Weirdly my older sister had a crush on Mark "spud face" Knopfler.
How weird.

My memory bank is drawing a blank too. This was my Blondie phase after all. Hmmmm, Debbie Harry - now that was a crush! :jpheart:

The Geordie connection helps - definitely the Knopfler brothers, Mark and David. The other 2 founder members I can't remember, but a saxophonist joined them later on. I presume one of the albums would be the iconic Brothers in Arms???
