A question who's answer has been burnt on my brain by a sadistic Sergeant Major, many years ago, if you got it wrong, everyone felt the wrath

What was the name of England's last Executioner and what was the name of the last woman he put to death and in what year.

I hate to tell you but there were two hangings carried out at the same time in england as the last hangings. So albert wasnt the last executioner. He was joint last. One was carried out at strangeways and the other at walton in liverpool.

Time to get some pay back on youe Sergeant Major.

I believe Ruth Ellis was the last person to be hanged, Could be wrong though and as SPK says Albert Pierrpoint was involved somewhere along the rope

Ruth Ellis and Albert Pierrepoint where the answers, it was 1955 at Holloway Prison.
I still speak to my ex SSM, so I rang him, he said the question was always "who was the last woman to be hanged" and something I never knew - it was on his birthday 13th July!!!!

He was acredited with over 600 executions although surprisingly there doesn't seem to be documented evidence of exactly how many!

Not someone you would want to meet really

To be pedantic and something of ghoul there was poor girl found in a vertical culvert murdered by hanging by her neck. after the death penalty had been abolished but I suppose this does not count.! It did make all of the newspapers though.

August 1964 was the month and year that the last two legal hangings took place. I only know as i watched a programme about it a few months ago. Albèrt being one he also had a pub in oldham at the time. The other was a bloke called henry allen who came from yorkshire.

Question: which popular weekly but now defunct TV show first aired in january 1964 but ran for several decades before its demise ?

Ok mate, thanks. We all know that the usual firing order for a 4 banger is 1,3,4,2 so, what is the firing order of a Maser V8? Turbo and N/A.
