Coca cola was sold as a pick me up in syrup form at the chemist. You could then mix it with soda water. The wine as far as i know was called coca wine. Is it a brand name your looking for ?

It pre dated Coca cola, Coca cola started off as a competitor/imitator until they made theirs alcohol free. it was a coca wine, but the original and most famous had it's own name.

It had many Royal patrons, plus celebrities, and also, as mentioned, a Pope. It is still produced today, though not to the same recipe, and you also have it to thank for the Syrup that became Coca Cola.

I've only just looked at this thread for the first time in ages.

Had a conversation a month or so back on the subject of cocaine in wine, I thought my mate was talking b0ll0cks when he came out with it.
Then he Googled it on his phone to prove it.

I can't remember the name exactly but it was something like Marina, Mariti or the like.
Was a bit tiddly pop at the time after going through 4 bottles of red and a bottle of port so I could be wrong.
