It is not a obvious smack me in the face decision to part with maybe £5k on top of my Exec GT for 4.2 QP GTS for a car that is not worlds apart of different.

Thoughts on a postcard?

There is actually quite a lot of difference. The GTS has different suspension, different brakes, different wheels, different sized tyres, different exhaust, different ride height and different seats - which all adds up to provide a very different and far more direct driving experience. Then there are all the visual differences to think about. Remember, the Exec GT Auto was specifically designed to be the least sporty of the QP range, while the GTS was the most sporty - they were aimed at different buyers. Both great in their own ways, but very different.

It's a bit like comparing a normal 911 with a 911 GT3 - they look similar, but drive very differently. Are they worth the extra? Err....let me think now.....

I prefer the interior of my Exec GT I think as it just seems to suit the Exec GT model spot on. The GTS is very different and more confused for me. The AB4 was about £75k with the Sport GT about £81k with the Exec GT and Sport GTS about £87k I think. I think the Exec GT is a lovely place to be, suits the QP model and is fine for me at the moment. I would rather spend £7.5k on an S211 E55 I think.

If I did change the QP I think it would be for a later 4.7 GTS though. The extra 50 horses over the 4.2 and valved sports exhaust system just giving it the edge over a 4.2 GTS for me. Just not enough of an 'upgrade' for me from the 4.2 Exec GT to the 4.2 Sport GTS.

You'll need upwards of £27k then, from what I can see on AT,
There is one at BOSS with the last bill being £7k .....ouch, makes Ewan's look a little more like sense?..

Agreed they are very different. The Exec GT is all about luxury and the Sport GTS about sharpness a much sportier nature. I expect they were both about the same price new with the Sport GT sitting in between these two and the AB4's. I would like to have seen valved sports exhausts on the GTS which is something I believe the 4.7 version has. Also a bit more poke which the 4.7 has. Don't get me wrong I think Ewan's car is a great example and lovely. Just not really worth me changing mine for. I certainly would urge anyone in the market for a QP to look at Ewan's though.

I think I will keep mine a bit longer and look at a 4.7 QTS in a year or two. I would like to have looked at a newer 3.8 V8 TT as that power plant with 530bhp looks a belter. Just that they have ruined the QP with the later model so it looks worse IMHO and also seems to ride/drive worse. The QP 4.7 GTS seems to be the best model they made with the 4.2 GTS not far behind.

Something like this but with alcantara in 2 years time at £25k ;)

Surely questioning the value of a particular model on the 'for sale' thread of a member's car is bad form, isn't it?

If I put my GS up for sale and someone said they preferred their 4200 I would, to put it politely, be a bit annoyed...

At the ridiculously low finance rates now on offer, it would be in the region of (just as an example) a £5k deposit followed by £300 a month over 5 years (with no balloon at the end and no penalties for over payments, so could be paid off earlier if required). Or an even smaller deposit then slightly larger monthly payments. So much Maserati for such a small monthly fee - madness.

Madness indeed.....come on people....someone buy it. There should be queues of people lined up to buy this beast. A proper old school N/A V8 so none of your new age nambie pambie turbo stuff. Think of that noise people!!

I agree. That's a joke.
You can pay that for a mondeo. And your GTs is just stunning.
I thought
It was time
To upgrade my GTS when I literally didn't even notice the payments. In reality I should have kept it, and revelled in having an awesome car that attracted attention and was fun to drive in equal measure - and had minimal financial consequences.
Trouble is - I have that same feeling again now and the 458 spiders are becoming attractive. Must resssissstt..

We never finance cars either. Just very staid in the old school ways of save up first then you know you can afford to buy it. Can't go wrong or trip up then. I've never got into financial difficulties living within my means.

I'm sure interest rates are cheap but I'd rather know where I am as much as I can. My finances are more complicated than I would like then to be already.

Tbh I started thinking about it as a bit of finance puts a Strad in touch with the cash I have as a deposit!
Swmbo talked some sense into me! TBH I think she has her eye on a few student let houses!!!
I'll just keep grafting, saving and searching!!
