Maserati UK emailed me and said my chassis number corresponds to a Quattroporte GTS :)

Yay, I am awaiting a detailed copy of the spec.

Thought the significant engine change was during the Duoselect era?

The early cars have red cam covers, indicating dry-sump engine. The blue heads are wet sump (info from Roberto Grimaldi - during my PPI)
Was tehre yet another change of engine version?

Ah right ....Always thought the colour denoted the 4.2 and 4.7 engines...

I'm surprised that the selling dealer didn't tell you what it was...

Same, I am not sure why there has been a great deal of confusion surrounding this.

Although regards to the silver Duoselect currently on sale, I asked how it was 2010 and it looks prefacelift and they said that Maserati built some models with spare parts, rather in a build a bear fashion?

Most late models like that have probably been sat unsold and then registered later when sold...Maybe..
