Build quality and materials have improved so much over the last 10 years that reliability has improved exponentially. Broken down cars on the hard shoulder used to be a very common sight, not so much these days. High end cars, used properly, should be even more reliable because of the finer tolerances used.

Saying that benny ive just come back from birmingham and saw 4 cars in total on hard shoulder with rac there....

Mrs was laughing as they were all italian....

Punto (sorry adam) a 147 a bravo & a 159......

Im sure its just a coincidence....tends to happen a lot though...if not italian itll be french....

Dem, I said cars have become more reliable; Fiats and Alfas break down more reliably than ever. The Italians call it character.

Haha benny.....

You have a point in that cars are more reliable now.... I would feel confident in a new alfa or a panda or even a kia as they are all high standards with competition the way it is

I can see myself buying Japanese one day, spent the afternoon in a Scoob today, christ almighty they dont half shift, effortless pace and grip.

You'd be better off in an Evo, they don't under steer as much. However, they don't sound as good, but I'd take an Evo any day.

Agree Ian...driven a few of both and the Evo has always been the one for me.........Thats if I wore a baseball cap backwards which I don't..

Adan had a new Punto as a hre car last week in Italy.....Really suprised me...GThey have grown up a lot and really handled itself well.

congrats on the car Adam, sorry to hear about the spot of bother you had but hope thats all behind you now and all thats left is many happy and memorable miles ahead of you.

Just thought i would update this thread and let you know what is happening with the old girl......

So far she has had......

2 new driveshaft seals
Rear springs
Service
Toyo T1R's all round (the budgets were a death trap)
Oil top up
New brake fluid resevoir (the old one was mouldy)
Bonnet cable

To do list.....

new wheel nuts
timing belt
exhaust back box (has a small blow)
underseal
replace windscreen wipers
new bonnet badge
replace bushes

Thermostat replacement this Friday along with coolant.
