Ouch. Think my clutch has just gone.

Voicey I fear if you turn up at Giallos with your SD3 you may be there some time :)

I am sure you will be welcomed with open arms by Mathew what a torrid time he must be having and no fault of his own.

Indeed, they'll lock you in!

Voicey has just been to Giallo, and plugged the SD-3 into my car, which gave no real clues.

Plus points.
There's 50% left in the clutch and it's set up perfectly.

Minus points

Matthew is going to drop the gearbox out to see if it's the actuator. If it is. Ouch!
Unless it's the position sensors which need replacing.
If it's not, it's a gearbox issue (double ouch).

Long and the short is that the car stays with Giallo.

That's not entirely accurate - the SD3 has narrowed the issue down to be a gear engagement problem. Now this can either be at the actuator or in the gearbox hence why further mechanical work is required.

I bow to your (far) superior knowledge.

I've just told the missus I've cancelled Christmas. Her response was "it's a good job you've already bought my presents then".

Charming!

This sounds similar to my problem, unable to select gear, ran self learn tests and kept failing about half way through, I cant remember what gear it got to but could have been 3rd or 4th, strange thing was my reverse light would flash while testing

Cause was faulty actuator, selection shaft was jammed, but engagement worked.

I have a thought, There is a plastic end cap on the back of the actuator there should be enough room to remove it with the actuator still in place, remove that cap and run the test, you should see 2 shafts moving all the way in and out, in my case the top shaft was barley moving 5mm in and out and the robotic arm was twitching trying to move but couldn't.

Sounds like what I have. Goes to third no problem, goes into fourth and then neutral every time.

We can rebuild actuators now, though, can't we?

C

Its in test with Voicey. He is installing a remanufactured actuator with parts from Craig Waterman in BennyD's car in the New Year. Then we test, if that ape cant break it, we are good to offer it but not at the moment.

I would think we are looking at the middle of next year if testing is successful.
