Nice pics. On topic, while doing the mundane supermarket run, when leaving, in came a stunning LHD XK120 in dark blue with the largest white/cream bakelite steering wheel i think I've ever seen!

I can't remember the architecture in Aix but it is a fun town because there are large universities there. Chambery and Annecy are pretty towns, although north, out of your way.

There are loads of great roads south of Grenoble. You can do a bit of research here http://www.bestbikingroads.com/moto...es-inc-lyon--/route-napoleon--n85-_5dd90.html

I'm off to Digne tomorrow, taking the scenic route via Briançon and Seyne. Turns a 3 hour motorway trip into a 6.5 hour jaunt through the mountains. I'm not going to get to do my planned Vars route over the higher mountains due to 3.5 hours of conference calls that I need to be at a hotel for, but maybe on the way back home instead.

Presumably to make up for the lack of power steering?

Ok, so I went into the bar and its now full of drivers from the Tulpenrallye - the Tulip Rally from Holland to Nice.

This hotel is cool car central this week.

Not looked in the garage yet...

Wow...
The clean, sparkling Jaguars rolled out, and in screamed this bunch of ruffians. No nonsense here, these guys are having fun!
Took my camera and there's some lovely stuff down in the car parks. Something here for lovers of Italian, German, British and even Swedish cars...Tess, Feel free to re-post the Alfas over on the Alfa site if you want : )

I LOVE that muddy 105 series. Is it a real GTA? I'd be scared parking a GTA in a Mercure car park. I thought those things go for six figures these days.

It's nice to see classic cars being used.

It does look like you've picked the right hotel indeed. Which club is there tonight? Probably the Ukrainian women's beach volley ball team :)

I got the feeling these guys don't do replicas...serious bunch of petrolheads.

I'm stuck in a hotel in Digne on a conference call and they are filing past outside...many many more cars than I saw last night, all sorts of exotic stuff, some that I don't recognise from the quick view I get as they cruise by. It is actually fun because the noise is enough to disturb the call whenever I go off mute!

When I say replica.......its a stripped out body, all relevant parts required to make an exact copy of original cars available......can only tell by checking VIN plate and race registration papers of the real McCoy

You truly can't tell otherwise...even the experts can't unless papers available......hugely popular car......especially in UK and parts of Europe

But am selling my GT 1300 Junior to fund my Aurelia project....:(
