See you have sold a good amount of your stock Dicky, including the QP.

Yes Bob, sold the lovely QP last week and the 224's had a sale agreed too. Lots of interest in all the cars so must be doing something right!

You are focusing mainly on one brand, buying the right stock, operating at the right price point and it is the time of year.

What do you do about finance for buyers?

Congrat Dicky....when I'm having a moment of escapism, the 4.7 QP is next on the list.

Then I remember I've just got married.

I'm all certified up, can offer good finance packages.

Woody, the MCV is stunning, but a QP 4.7 is in a completely different ballpark, sublime car. I'd have one in a heartbeat.

I have driven the QP and they are a very nice machine, very well appointed and comfortable, excellent cruiser with power.

It would need some adjustment to go from 22mpg, down to under 15 mpg, my carbon footprint is quite bad now and it would get worse. That's assuming I went for the GT-S and it's only slightly faster than the standard XJR 0-60.

i reckon on the motorway cruising my 3200ac does mid to high 20`s. The worst for mpg is probably my old e24 635 which seems to average about 12mpg combined! although i do like giving it the beans as i find it funny pushing the small hot hatches in a car much older than the driver.
As is often said with a performance car, fuel cost should not be the deciding factor. On any maserati out of warranty a 3k could come out of nowhere.
I bought my wife a saab 9-5 hot aero lpg, a full tank of lpg for £33, which equates to 250 miles of normal driving (she drives it quick as well). As i have said before i will go for a leggy quattroporte and lpg it. The 4.2 engine is solid and i am quite handy wth spanners, i just never do it on my 3200ac as it has 21k miles and maserati/autosheild yearly full service history (even when i do less than 1k miles a year) and i dont want to devalue it too much. A leggy cheap qp from a auction will never be worth much and so i would manintain it myself where possible - how hard can it be?

I appreciate what you say drellis. I have driven the 4.2 QP and it was not as fast as my XJR, so it would have to be the 4.7 QP, which is a lot thirstier beast. I would never LPG a Maser, I have done it on my big Jeep from new and it's good, but not sure on performance overall, if you really push it the lpg goes off, just can't cope, then comes back on when you ease off.

Hi Norman,
That's interesting, but I have a heavy right foot and like to use the power, so I could see me getting way less than that. I am still thinking and do not rule anything out.

Cheers

OK. Still don't think there'd be a huge difference between 4.2 with a heavy foot and 4.7 with a heavy foot...Did you mean thirstier than your XJR? What do you get from that?

With the XJR I get probably 22 on a run, motorway driving, if I drove at 70mph I would probably get 24/25. If I am in a hurry I maybe get 20.

the lpg system on my saab gives same power as the petrol. I cant tell which fuel its on . Its four injectors are rated up to 350 so 8 of them should be fine on a qp.

Under normal circumstances I can't tell either, it's when I kick hard and take the revs right up in my Hemi Jeep, the gas decides to knock off and petrol takes over, it is 5.7 ltrs though, maybe that's why? 0-60 in a little over 7 seconds for a 4x4 is pretty quick and I don't think the Lpg can hack it at full blast.
