The MC fetches a premium now so I would think that will stay the same for the duration unless as in the newer Sport auto things get a lot better for the auto.

It's not always easy comparing values largely because the autos tend to cover more miles than the MC Shift cars and with skyhook - as many are - the MC Shift was £6k more expensive new.

I'm not as sure about the next point but watching the market I seem to think the MC Shift cars seem to change hands more often as they are viewed more as a weekend fun car. Happy to be shot down on that one mind!

I bloody LOVE mine, BB. It rocks. Gives me real joy. Maserati makes cars that make you happy. The Pharrell WIlliams of the automotive world, perhaps.

They do don't they! I had the delight of a multi-story carpark in mine the other day. Amazingly I found out that the 4.7 Auto does have exhaust valves that open and a wonderful burble on the over run. Wait there knew that already.....love tunnels and underpasses in it.

Any kind of confined space is a wonderful place to be with a Maserati. The basement car park of the Radisson in Bristol is a particular favourite.

At the risk of sounding like I've never lived... So I just squish the accelerator into the floor and start?

Mrs. N screams when I just start it normally! (much to Matt's amusement in Bristol last weekend)

Two things:
-the BMW DCT box is light years ahead of the MC box and can't really be compared with it. Lambo have just ditched the single clutch box for the Gallardo replacement and Ferrari did the same when they brought out the 458 a few years back. Ditto Audi which has binned R-Tronic in the R8. DCT is the way forward for paddle shift boxes with single clutch automated boxes now feeling very, very old; and
-all 4.7 engined cars have a sports exhaust but it varies a bit between models. For a modest sum you can fit the FD kit to control the valves exactly as you wish, even getting them to work in auto, normal and ice modes.

I have done exactly that - having installed the remote control FD kit to open and close the valve at the press of a button. Having driven a GT Sports Auto, the noise from the exhaust is very close to that from the Sports GT. Well, the sports GT still sounds better I think, given that the exhaust note is probably much better tuned on the GT sports than a GT S Auto with a FD Kit, a pretty cost effective mod in my opinion.

Finally got around to taking out a 4.7 MC Shift GTS, awesome drive feels well connected amazed at how smooth it was but this will be the version and gearbox I’ll be buying, and the noise in a closed space on start does life get any better......

Hello, new on here and in a fortunate position of been able to purchase one of these fabulous machines with the great wealth of information on here, after some advice having been reading these forums for some time now. I'd be grateful for insight from owners new and seasoned I'm based on the East coast outside of London and after the best place to deal with for test driving, all those newbie questions, for the various models and transmissions and those that have recently bought as from what I believe I would be looking to purchase a GranTurismo S MC Shift I've been told this can be a little rough around town? I've looked into hire but there is such a limit on the different combinations available, preferences SkyHook Suspension. I've only ever owned BMW's so need to be sure I get the right combination from my own research I would like one still in Maserati warranty either original or one that has been extended.

GranTurismo
GranTurismo S
GranTurismo MC Stradale
GranTurismo Sport

Thank you for all feedback

I haven't read the whole thread here, and so don't know your budget but.....

In defence of the 4.2, yes it does have rubbish brakes and the gearbox isn't the best, but.....if you are looking to buy a used Gran Turismo, a low mileage 4.2 car is still a good £10k cheaper than the equivalent 4.7! Which at that price is about 20 to 25%. And so it is a straight choice: do I pay £40k for a good 4.2 or £50k for a higher mileage 4.7.

So THAT is why the 4.2 remains an attractive but to people who are new to Maserati and Gran Turismo ownership.....

I've just picked up a 2013MY Granturismo Sport MC Shift and it feels amazing. There is a marked difference between this and the earlier cars. Really impressed with it, not yet listed it but what a car!

The major difference for me is that the seats are much more cosseting, the build quality feels improved but then again, it's only 18 months old. Feels tighter and more solid than the MC's I've previously sold but they were 4-5 years old. I'll list the car in a day or two, busy all day tomorrow; too sunny (not complaining though) today to photograph.

It's interesting comparing newer models of the same car with older ones and trying to work out what is product upgrades and what is just the effect of deterioration over time.

Personally I like the facelift car's front seats but for some reason rear seat space seems less overall despite legroom having meant to have been improved. I don't like the new nose on the Sport (but like the Stradale) and I prefer my car's ability to be driven in Sport but having the option to silence the exhaust by changing up and getting the revs below 3000. Believe you me after 25,000 miles I would be bored sick of a sports exhaust that was that loud all the time but at other times it is sublime.

I tend to turn off the Sport button when at motorway speeds and click it in sport on the slip road off! The auto does save you the hassle of it and allows the other benefits of sport mode without the drone.

That's right - sport manual in 6th with no drone. Shame they removed that feature on the auto with the 2013MY. Also for 2011MY onwards that feature is removed too if cars have the sport pack - didn't order it myself.

I expect to be paying anywhere up to 70K, as I think 40K the car will have a to higher mileage for what I want.
