Just an update on this.
Collected the car this morning from AV. No issue selecting R following the new potentiometer installation and no ‘park off’ error message.
4 year service done, all fluids and ancillary belts etc. carbon canister and oxygen sensors still ok, no need to replace.
Two new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S fronts fitted.
Cigarette lighter delete and USB socket installed in place.
Top up under body rust protection.
Exhaust valves lubricated. Scuttle drainage holes cleared.
Waiting for replacement Neptune alloy to be painted before swapping over with the buckled front one.

As a side note; AV are not convinced the potentiometers are actually available and in stock despite being shown as. Just a heads up.

Great news and thorough work there.
Were the exhaust valves lubricated with a dry lubricant?

A few people on here were having the same issue and I promised to revert once AV Engineering had taken a look at it.
Aldous has pin pointed the fault to the sensors on the gearbox potentiometer.
I posted a thread some time ago that these were NLA - but luckily bought a spare back then from Ricambi in the US.

This is the part—>

This part appears to be valid for a number of later F1 cars, but not for QPV DS or Gransport. With the early QPs and GS being earlier cars I would expect more faults of that nature flagged. Was it less of an issue on those?

Honestly not too sure what they used on the valves Chris, sorry. Right hand side valve was partly seized so I’m glad they checked.

I have no idea on that. Perhaps @conaero will know and advise?

Small amendment needed; gearbox needs to be dropped slightly at an angle to replace the potentiometer part.

Bebs my local precision welding company can straighten a wheel perfectly. I have never had any shake or issues after they work their magic. And it will only cost around £60 plus vat.

Thank you Gazcw. AV have got someone who will straighten it out.
I’ll just keep it as a spare as I’m pretty sure it’ll happen again. This is the second buckled front alloy…

The Strad had both fronts done. I can keep my teeth in past 120 now!
