Just had a blast at the staff in the Cafe Concerto registration office about **** poor organization and exclusivity. Told em 30 of us are in town from UK and there is nothing to do apart from a meal at the factory etc... They shrugged and I told them they should be ashamed. This official gathering here ends at 6pm with a parade as they leave the Piazza, I hope Benny arrives soon so we can blast them the **** out!

Wow just reading the events of the day and i feel very sorry that things haven't worked out as planned for you all down in Modena.

It's a real shame Maserati have seemingly chosen to cater for the high rollers rather than capturing the enthusiasm of the loyal owners of many of their classic designs.

Hopefully once things have settle down i hope some compromise will be reached and you all get to celebrate in the style you deserve. If not then think of those of us who have been sitting in jams here in the UK today in our cars and make sure to enjoy the drive back!

Bugger the factory - let's be honest, if Maserati didn't have such a cr*p reputation for flaky old cars few of us would be able to afford the ride. They do and we ignore the scary stuff and revel in the glory. It's all down to Luca Montezemelo - relentlessly pushing the brand to attract those with money who will continue to shell out to reflect in the past's glory.

We are blessed to have been able to make the most of the situation, great cars, still saddled with historical scare stories. There won't be many more of us able to have so much fun for so little cash (relatively).

God - that El Grano Carmenere that I have downed tonight has brought on a severe dose of bo**ox!

That's a good point Catalan. I feel lucky to own and afford a supercar with a Ferrari engine/gearbox and i am not willing to sell her. But this is different to their behaviour. Their target could remain rich people, but -at least- Maserati owners have proved how dedicated they are.
Ferrari owners, for example, have 'almost' the same advantages no matter if they own a 250GT, a California or a Mondial.

Interesting drive down to Modena yesterday over the Grand St Bernard pass. Dry roads right to the moment we hit the pass, then it was wet, greasy, raining and in the cloud with around 20m vis. Traction control back on then, as my car was all over the place, refusing to power out of corners, and I could see Blu Elettrico in the mirror struggling with the same problem. Met one of the French forum guys on the summit - the power of Maser ownership is astounding, he knew exactly who I was, yet we've never met. Brilliant. He drove down the pass to Aosta in the middle of our convoy, bidding us farewell near the town as he headed to the Autostrada and we went for lunch.

Later on the blast along the Autostrada ourselves, we caught and passed a French convoy of 8 cars, biturbo to 4200 driving together.

Maserati just posted up a video of "the best of yesterday in Modena". Beautiful shots of some amazing cars.

http://youtu.be/A3FOrSHmQaY

Yesterday, they posted a picture of the MC12 extolling the sound of Maserati and saying the MC12 was the leader of the orchestra...

...so what did they use as the soundtrack to the new video once the cars started their engines and were driving? Elevator music. They just don't seem to join their thinking up...it's like watching a 4 year old do calligraphy.

Just back from Cremona - MANY Maserati Press cars, all new, all full of Chinese.

Still, the old cars which came through the Piazza while we had lunch were superb.... Got some great photos. Met up with the French guys who are absolutely over the moon that we will be able to get the forums together at the track later today. ALL the cars can join for a parade lap, even if not down to drive during the track sessions. No helmets required for that, and rear seat passengers allowed. There's professional DVD being filmed, so well worth everyone getting there.

All the track cars will get a free copy, everyone else will be able to buy a copy later.
