back on topic... i have just spoken to the seller of this car. He has told me the following.
It has been his grandads car for the past 7-8 years. They bought it when it was 2 years old and a CAT D write off - front end damage. They had it professionally repaired, but could only get yellow headlights secondhand at the time.
The mileage is genuine and they have various receipts for services over the years. All things considered, it seems genuine, but it would be recommended to get this inspected prior to purchase. If it has had a proper repair, it could be a good car. Then again, having covered so few miles in the last 8 years, i just get a feeling it is one of those cars that will be problematic. A car that has been consistently used over the years seems a 'safer bet'.
The seller also told me the clutch has never been changed. One thing he did say which i didn't quite understand is that sometime previously the car failed to start and it was diagnosed as the clutch wear sensor. they disconnected it and the car has run fine ever since.
Does'nt sound ideal, but for a spanner monkey willing to tart it up and maintain it, it could be a good buy. it's just not for me though.
