That's a **** of a price for the year and mileage, if that's typical I'll go back to Jag XKR, much more sensible money.

Far too much for the mileage. There are 4 decent ones on Pistonheads between £16 and 19k. One, for £18k, has 24k miles. You could probably get a discount on all of them.

Sorry Robert but there is no comparison between the Jag xkr and the Maserati in my opinion. Phil.

Much better price Ian......Over 20k these days seems to be out of the ball park and they do seem to sit around for some time...

I am struggling to find anything reasonable. I have just been offered a 2005 4.2 XKR Convertible with 19K on the clock at reasonable money with my XJR in PX which I am considering. Speaking with those who know, if the Spyder is pre 2004, then it will have scuttle shake and I don't think I could live with that, little rattles even drive me crazy. So I am still hunting for a good car with reasonable mileage and at the right money. I was offered a 2005 Spyder from an SM member, but the price was a little too rich for me and my budget. I must admit that my XJR has always been reliable, has never let me down, is fast and comfortable. I am torn now because I like the 3200 we have and would have gone for a soft top, but the prices are that much higher and I am not sure why?

Yep, you need a 2004 model year to be honest...As you say too much scuttle shake in early cars....I think early cars had a plastic rear window as well where as later cars had glass...

Thanks Frank and yes Andy I think you are right, it's just hitting on the right car for the right money. I would have thought with all this rain, a Spyder would have been on the Special Offer lists, but not so.

Thanks Frank, I will just keep looking and see if anything pops up, trouble is when I have made up my mind to do something, I need to get it done, rather like deciding to power through a gradual bend at 100mph, rather than ease off??

OK so I have looked at a few Spyders and even the 2003 registered cars appear to be 2002 models with plastic rear windows and of course the scuttle shake. So I am left looking for either a late 2003 / 04 plate Spyder, a Jaguar XKR 4.2, or I am now even considering a 4200cc Coupe??
If I finish up with a 4200, what sort of niggles should I be looking for and what's a good year / price I should be aiming at. There seem to be loads of 4200's around at reasonable money, whereas the Spyder sellers seem to want very high prices, even though they do not seem to sell, just sit there for sale for ages.

Yes that's a nice car Andy, but I think it is a 2002 model. The 2003 upgraded Spyders had slightly different centre console colours, a glass rear screen, modified scuttle, different wheels and change to the CC gearbox settings, which made a considerable difference to the car. I have looked at this car and others and still can not find what I'm looking for. There is one owned by a forum member, but he wants slightly more than I am looking to pay, a nice car though.
