Larini exhaust

Hi all

I've cleaned, polished and buffed up the Larini rear boxes ready to go onto car. The photo below is a before-&-after - the one on the right is as I got them, the left is after working on them. The difference was clearer in the flesh than I think the photo shows - they now gleam. Cant wait to get them fitted now after hearing Robert (hydroid), Mike (mjheathcote) and Dem Masers' feedback...

Good work!

Do a before & after soundtrack if you have the time, Simon. Would be good to hear the difference between the two...startup, tick-over, revving and pulling away.

There's a whole lot more bits to buy before you really open up the full sound! This is just the start, better start saving.....

It'll be a fair bit louder but from experience I would say you need to change 2 parts out of the 3 to get it a lot louder; the 3 parts being headers and cats, centre section and rears. When I got mine it had Larini sports cats and the rest standard, it sounded like standard but with straight through rears on it really woke up. If you are keeping standard cats have a think about an unsilenced X-pipe to let the flavour flood out!

But only think about it briefly. And then do it. Benny gave me some good advice regarding an X-pipe and he was absolutely right.

Thanks for the advice gents - I've already replaced the secondary cats with straight sections which hasn't made too much difference, maybe a little gruffer but barely noticeable really. The plan is to just do the rear sections now with the Larinis which I think/hope will sound great.

From reading posts and having spoken to others about X or H pipes, the intention is to keep the standard resonator as I believe replacing it with X/H pipe will make sound v.v. loud both outside and inside the car...Benny/Adam/Outrun - I know you are v. happy with your set ups but would you say that to some it maybe too loud? Fair to say you are probably all noise-mongers? :)

I'm after the great sound, rather than v.v. loud and disturbing neighbours and setting off car alarms... :)

Larinis being fitted as I type so will post tonight when I get the car back....

Ok, ok, I should have had Marios fit one of his nice x-pipes to Doris while she was in there over the last few weeks...but I'm trying to hold out to have something custom built including the inlet mod's that Newton is putting together. There's a particular sound I want to get, just need the funds and the time to get it. Noor's Stradale would be the closest I've heard so far, but I think I'm dreaming there...until I can pick up a ten year-old one...

Chaps I'm just back from picking up the car and taking it for a spin. The Larinis sound 'epic' to quote Mike (mjheathcote) - pop and crackle on the over run is just a sound to behold! Can changing gear ever have sounded so good.. :)

The car often gets looks but noticed it turned a few more heads than normal as they heard me coming... :)

Indeed no more stealth mode. Tongue in cheek my wife often asks me what did we do before the Maserati - I'm now thinking what did we do before the Larinis...!

As I said, if you change two parts the difference is so much bigger (and better) than twice the difference of changing one part. I'm glad you like it. That's another one; NEXT!!
