Will go for loads more I would think.

I have always done ok with my Alfa's - Best was a 156 bought back in 2001 for £9k at around 2 years old, ran it for 10 months or so and sold for £9900 :)

Sorry Paco , just saw your other post (black ones are the fastest) didn't intend to get you all excited , but it will go cheapish , bought quite a few from Hbc always far cheaper than copart , and the delivery is cheaper too

That is very nice ... black and tan ... Great combo and could be a great buy if under 5k.

Yep when I say I'm working on it I mean I bought my ex fleet 159 cheap and hope to punt it on roughly for what I paid for it after a bit of use, but that may be a little optimistic!

Managed to get the locking wheel bolts removed today, it took Meridien over an hour but the bill was very reasonable at £80 notes including new bolts (and key!!) plus the dreaded.

Another step to getting her a little more up together, with a little elbow grease I think it will come up nicely. At least ivccan refurb the wheels now!! Being ex fleet it came with nothing (hence the wheel nut issue) but five minutes on the phone produced a service print out from the lease company shown on the number plate as long as your arm! FSH now detailed, box ticked!

Urby that's interesting, I agree the 159 is heavy, they appear to have taken a leaf from the Audi handling book, it certainly isn't like the delicate handling I'd want from an Alfa, which my 164 V6 managed even though it was a bigger car.

However unlike the 164 the 159 has sailed past 125k miles and feels ready for the same again, the build quality is in a different league to any Alfa I've owned or used. It's no ball of fire but it's purely functional transport for me and I'd have it over any peers. not convinced by Diseaseal economy either, I get about 34 mpg but that reflects the fact the turbo is permanently lit on my commute!

I said "interesting" above because it was the GT 3.2 that drove me to buying a 3200, I was dead set on one but really disappointed with the ones I drove, sluggish (for the size of engine) horrendously thirsty (the S4 Cab I had afterwards got comfortably over 20 mpg and that had a 4.2 V8!!) and the interior disappointed me a bit too - the handling was pretty uninspiring too - at the time we were talking £15k minimum and the 3200 was an easy alternative, the depreciation of the Alfa easily outwieghed the running costs of the Maser. Now we're talking significantly less ££ to get in to a GT 3.2 I'd really like to try another, they do look fantastic.

Edit to say: I reckon a 147 GTA would tick the boxes for me, apart from five seats!!

Don't forget the GTV 3.2 .... Wounder how the GT 3.2 feels against the 3.2 GTV .... Same engine and power but with the GT being a more modern car is there much in it. GTV being smaller looks more chuckable in the bends.

Paco Hi .........Well I agree with you that the GT 3.2V6 was thirsty and probably not much better consumption than my Gransport but sluggish it certainly was not and always felt at least a second or more quicker than it actually was. For the real world the handling was pretty good too although it felt that the suspenion was non existent. Above all the noise was to die for and you could enjoy this better at low speeds than at high speeds (good for the license).......Build quality was good and in the two years I had the car it never missed a beat. It is also a fairly rare sight on our roads and always grabbed the attention of enthusiast........Great Car

I have posted this before but the video below I think demonstrates that noise and ample handling and performance. This was the last car to be fitted with that 3.2 V6 before Alfa Romeo fitted that awful watered down lump to the Brera and 159
