However, we all have to earn the money to put into MDs or Indies so we have bought the right to pass on our experiences. Surely the Indies that go the extra mile to give a better service deserve to prosper whereas those that don't, perhaps don't. Maybe a sticky that emphasises good service only, no negative comments so that the good companies will feature regularly whereas the bad ones won't.

Sounds good to me. People are quick to run things down rather than praise them

Yes Ian, thats a type of review section I could live with.........plus perhaps reviewers can only be members who've listed themselves on our stats lists

Hi blue250,
They still have a picture of a maser on their web page, have they definitely stopped servicing Masers?
Cheers

Well lot's of comments and different ideas which is good. I don't think anyone wants, or needs to run any indies down at all, but if some are consistantly bad, that would reflect in the points allocated by members who have had those experiences. The intention is to safeguard members from the possible pitfalls of using an indie that has been consistantly poor at service, or has been involved in numerous cases of ripping people off. We need our indies to continue and prosper, continually offering good quality service for our cars, the bad ones we don't need.

Emblem have a high end reputation Rob...expensive but good.

The problems in the past has typically been MDs charging £150 an hour but providing British Leyland standards of service.

I have started using a local Fezza specialist near me for servicing etc, QV are based in Windsor are very reasonably priced, the guys there are all ex-Maranello engineers so know their way around the car, the only thing against them is that they take their time.

When you say take their time, letting you down on return date/ time....or saying its takes X amount of days to get done?

OK chaps, appreciated, so I will give Emblem a call on Monday AM. I might just have found a car down in that neck of the woods, but time will tell. Naturally I will keep you all advised of my progress and what the end result is. I need the best, rather than travel so far and get a lemon, god forbid.

Frank, you can stop crawling the net to see if you can find it, it's already done deal.

They have a guy with mobile SD2/3 who comes to them for diagnosis/electrical issues. In terms of time it took they had it done but didn't call me to say it was done, it was amusing because when I dropped the car off the guy moaned they'd had some cars for months waiting for owners to collect them so I thought I'd get it back quickly.

Nick,
Do you think they moan a bit to try and get the price up, or are they just moaners?? A bit like the sharp intake of breath that some use???

I do support some form of rating given by those who have used the services of garages...just as long as they are verified. The last thing we want is some one-post-wonder bigging/or destroying a hard earned reputation of a garage and thier staff.

Ps Emblem are fab...I had 4 services from them and they were perfect each time; even now they are happy to take a call despite not having a Maser for over a year.

Frank,
I have warned the owner, he will take the money, sell me the car and give me the change, of course some excuse will be made why your funds have gone missing!!! I would not mind a quick chat on the phone re the 4200, just as my GURU you understand.
Pete,
Thanks for that, appreciated.
Cheers

I think they were a bit miffed that some owners were using there place to store their pride and joys for months on end free of charge.
