Arnie & Everybody,
As some members have had poor, or bad experiences with some Indie's, what does everybody think of starting a sort of points system, say stars out of 5, or 10. It could get a bit complicated to administer and we would have to take care and not introduce comments as such. Let me know??
Cheers

Hi Rob,

This had been ths spark that lead to my banning on the other pre SM forum.

My continual requests for something like a rating system of peoples experiences was a step too far for a whole variety of reasons in the eyes of the forum owner.

Will let Matt take the suggestion on board and see what he thinks, or indeed pm him

Hi Frank,
Yes I know it can be contraversial and treading on dangerous ground if comments are used. I wondered if we could get away with a points rating system, just to give an overall member experience rating for other members to benefit from.
I might drop Matt a quickie just to see what he thinks.
Cheers

Seems to work for Tripadvisor et al, so presumably there's a way of caveating a "ratings" section such that SM is not responsible for the views and comments of those that post on it. Could be a legal minefield, could be expensive, would be bl00dy helpful! :)

You need to remove Auto-Sportiva , they no longer service Maserati /Ferrari. Stopped over a year ago.

I agree that this would be very helpful. I tried to do so on a Merc forum but it again was not met with enthusiasm. I understand entirely the forum owners viewpoint, as they need protection. However, it is a shame that free speech is curbed.

Just an idea but could a third party website could be used for reviews? Google, Yell.com, Touch local, etc. We could have a link to the third party website in the above list? e.g. http://www.yell.com/b/Giallo+Cars+Ltd-Garage+Services-Tonbridge-TN119ND-4687160/ https://plus.google.com/109893986881781958573/about?hl=en#109893986881781958573/about

Please feel free to delete the links to those websites, if you rather would not do this of course.

Its a very awkward one, but pre SM, there were so many reports of very poor service for what is a prestige marque, by MDs I was flabbergasted.

There have been a few reports on here about the same thing from MDs, and the odd comment about indies.

However most reports about indies are of the positive type....perhaps a way out of it is to share by pm contentious experiences by pm and not expose the forum to any further negative outside interference.

So a recommendations section might suffice...anything else on the main forum answered by pm by those whove used them if negative.

Plus I note no MDs or Maserati UK are sponsors or have backed the forum by any means.....correct Matt?

Again, the forum only has 130 owners out of 10000 current owners....how much influence/sway might we have/hope to achieve?

Don't underestimate the forum, whenever we're logged on, there's about 5-10 times the members that are unreg'd browsing at the same time.

I really really cant believe I am reading this thread, it sends shivers down my spine, in a time when small independants who are trying their best to keep their heads above water, and maybe employing people, you guys want to start destroying their business with personal views which are probably views made from your pocket, or personal because you did not like the way your where handled, is just criminal
This is an open forum, or at least i thought it was, now we are talking pm each other for negatives, this is just crazy....come on guys lets start seeing some sense here
