I'm having thoughts about selling the 4200

Hi all been away from the forum for a while, lots of different projects on at the moment, so not having loads of time to play with the 4200.
I do this with every car I buy it was defo going to be a keeper but then after 6/9 months I get a bit bored and decide I fancy something different!!!

I haven't found anything new but seeing how long the Maseratis tend to take to sell Im thinking I need to get it ready for sale sooner rather than later.

After doing a few DIY jobs I decided for the sake of re-sale and my own piece of mind I should have her serviced by a specialist and so took her down to Grimaldi to have a check over. Really pleased with the service and ended up having him carry out a service as well as a 4 wheel alignment to get it driving as it should. As with any service we ended up having lots more done and with a decent size bill!!

Any paintwork has been seen to and I am over the moon with the car. Looks and drives perfect.

Not sure what it will sell for it owes me probably too much so I'm expecting to take a bit of a hit, and the mileage will always be an issue.

Only other cars on the horizon at the moment are a 911 I've seen and a couple of classics, but I think I will go older agin for my next car.

Hi yes was probably me went to Chelmsford couple of weeks ago, have been using it a bit lately as has the wife so been around the local area a fair bit.
I have been doing alot of work on a couple of MGB's lately which has given me the classic bug again, thinking something a bit more unusual this time

I have a feeling I could be a maseratisti for a fair bit longer don't forget I have a 90k mile one to sell before I can move on!! Nice thing is I have no rush so can spend time getting it advertised right and wait for the phone to ring, not a bad thing to drive around while I wait!! Might change my mind yet.

Thanks Andy I will do

Once I put an advert together I will post a copy on here, trying to decide how much to advertise it for all in it owes me £12000. Which is cheap for a 4200 but it has 92k on the clock so it needs to be cheap to stand a chance against the others.
Everything else stacks up it has two owners from new and full service history the paint work is perfect (well all but one part but that is being rectified) the wheels are perfect.
Only issue could be the clutch which was changed at just over 60 when Grimaldi looked at it he couldn't fault it but of course it is in theory due. So not sure if I should just get it done now but then it will owe me 13500 and it's getting close to most others on the market, or do I advertise and expect to have to knock £1500 off for the new buyer to do the clutch?

DIY clutch change is on the horizon Tony, I'll be doing mine soon which should be a cheaper option all in...

Shame to see a local one going but it is for all the right reasons :)

I think it might sell better to the un-initiated/first time Maserati with a clutch......ie, its done, documented and paid for.........

I sold mine with a high ish clutch percentage. ..get an SD3 read it and be honest with the buyer...if they are a low user it could still vice them a few years of fun before a new one is really needed.

Think you may be right P, shame as its driving fine, dont get me wrong I would not dream of selling without letting a purchaser aware but seems a shame to change it when its working well.

It said 90% on the readout but Roberto drove it for a couple of days trying to get a squeek or a slip and eneded up deciding it would probably do me for another year.

When can I book it in with you?!!! I can have it delivered to Romford any time!
I would love to think I could do it even considered getting the guys at work to do it for me, however by the time I spend £700 on the parts I think I would be just as well spending the same again having it fitted properly.

I got mine changed early Tony, because if it goes, am stuck in Ireland, automatic £500 bill to get it over then fly back for it....so I looked on it as a discount, plus I put 4,534 miles on it before changing the car next year...........vagueness is one of my weaknesses.....;)

Agreed, Tony. Given the notoriously approximate readings (could be significant +/-) then if it works fine my opinion would be to sell as is and if the buyer wants to haggle then let him (or her). I don't think it would be reasonable to expect a discount equal to the cost of a new clutch + fitting when the current one works perfectly well.

I'm going to be trialling loz's re-lined unit which is sub £50 so if it works it could be a winner!

Do I need to do some serious searching here?! What have I missed with this sub £50 unit?? What is it and how does it work?
