Thanks Mike, appreciate your comments. I bought a brand new C63 a few years ago, but this is my first foray into a 2nd hand performance / prestige motor, so am using an abundance of caution. I'm not intending it to be my daily driver, but I wouldn't be surprised if that idea goes right out the window :)
What, never had a 10 year old Chevette when a pauper?!!

I know a few people have recommended Richard Grace and I've seen Nuvola mentioned in a positive light, but does anyone have any experience dealing with Junction 17?

I haven't got first hand experience on purchasing from them, but went there a few times 5 or 6 years ago when I was looking at GT-R s, Astons, Granturismos.
Back then, their Internet reviews were so so so I was wary.
To my suprise, I pretty much had to agree on a purchase to even get a test drive in a car.

They do seem to get a lot of nice cars in.
I believe the aftersales may not be the best, so if I was looking there, I'd definitely get an independent inspection done by someone trustworthy.

Where as I wouldn't bother with an inspection with a car from Richard Grace, as he gets Autoshield to do one anyway and his aftersales is top notch. I also believe Nareman at Nuvelo used to get Maserati Colchester to do his, but don't know if its still the case.

If you were serious about a car at J17, depending on date and time, I may be able to have a look at it with you and show you the common areas of concern. Not a million miles away but it is still about 45mins from me.

Thanks so much for your kind offer and thoughts on J17, appreciated. Feels like RG and Nareman are the go-to people based on the collective wisdom on this forum. Cheers, Will

If you haven't called Richard yet, even just for a chat, I'd advise you to. He won't try to sell you a car, but will tell you all you need to know about them, and it'll help you decide what colour, spec, age etc you may want.

Had an 8yr old Chevette as my first car and I was a pauper apprentice.
I had an Opel Kadett 1.2 which was essentially a Chevette as an impoverished student. 7th proud owner and 105K miles when I naively bought it!

Me and my mate had a selection of Viva's too, a Mazda reg VEN 1T I think, always wished it was VOM 1T, the colour was right - windscreen wipers never worked.

Never had a Ford, but my other mate got a Triumph Dolomite which he stoved in on day one, then a VW Karmann Ghia which he also stoved in on day one. Then an ex-Royal Mail van which lasted ages! We went all over Wales in it touring Welsh Narrow Gauge railways. Rock and Roll, baby! We did the WHR, Tallylynn, the Glyn Valley Tramway what was left of it, Ffestiniog, Corris Railway then the Vale of Rheidol.

Great days! Awesome!

XBM 721X Black with black vinyl roof and red check vinyl seats. From memory it was around 72000 miles and I paid £425. Sold it after a couple of years for £650. It had had a new wing and roof vinyl and a lamp post shaped dent put in the tailgate by that time. Never made it past Jan 1993 according to road tax checker.
