6 months ago I bought this GTS to replace my MB SL320. 37,000 miles 3 owners with full history and 6 month warranty. Back at Sytner to sort out a few problems

Has anyone else had:
ns door mirror - underside light unit unclipped itself driving along
boot lid - key & push pad don't work but dash button and remote fob do operate
engine control fault warning - a local indie has given me a print out
P0072 ambient air temperature sensor circuit A low
P0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1
P0430 catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2

Hi Mate and welcome
I had a Catalytic warning come on last year, cannot be sure of the code but 430 rings a bell
I poured some Catclean stuff (from Amazon) in the petrol tank and it is just the ticket
good luck with the other stuff hope you get it sorted

Thanks for that - I will have a look at Catclean info

When I test drove the car the 'engine control failure - go to dealer' came up on the dash. The sales guy said it had just been MOT'd and serviced by Graypaul their Maserati dealer next door (who could not sell it because it was over 3 years old) Obviously it had passed the emission control test for MOT. It was fixed for when we collected the car - but 2 days later it came back on. They arranged to pick up the car - it was 'fixed' - but then came back on when the delivery driver was half way back to us !!

I was told they thought it was the air mass sensor giving a false reading but it was agreed that they would take the car back again - but not to worry about using it! Eventually the other faults happened so I decided to pay £60 to a local indie who had the diagnostic kit. He told me he thought the first fault could be causing the cat issues and it needed fixing so its now back with Sytner.

Interested to hear how you get on claiming on the Sytner Select warranty, I'm having a battle with them currently and I'd rate them as slippery, good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. Picking up on the wishbone issue - The car is an April 06 registration with full Graypaul stamped history. Will they be able to advise if it would have been picked up or checked out?

Have the lowers checked front and rear, they are the dangerous ones.

Really, you have to remove them. Be present when they do it.

My 06 GS had a cracked lower near side front at 40k miles.

I haven't heard of any on a QP but it's highly possible.

Isn't the QP a totally different set up to the GS/4200 and much stronger which is why the QP ones seem to be fine but as Matt said check them out

Lovely QP, uncommon to see GT S in that spec. The problems you list would'nt be common ones with the QP, most of these surface around variators etc.

Thanks guys for your advice and welcome.

I had an email from Sytners this morning asking what fuel did I use - so I was able to confirm only Shell v power nitro+.

I will go back asking them to check the wishbones and querying if Maserati uk had issued guidance to their dealers.

I would not be impressed if they try and blame any issues on the fuel.

C

freaking cheek if they try that one when the owners manual tells you :-

Only use unleaded premium fuel with
high octane number (R.O.N.) - no less
than 95

all our fuels available at the forecourt are 95, 97 or 99 R.O.N

After being Maserless since 18th January, Sytners will be delivering the car back to me before Thursday. Graypaul have been through it and I am assured that all has been done! Just awaiting a figure from Sytners for extending the warranty by 6 months !

If they had my car for more than a month I'd be expecting to get the extended warranty for free as compensation.

My thoughts as well but I will be throwing in a possible carrot of wanting to upgrade in 6 months or so

Waiting for Sytner to call back. Had the car delivered last Wednesday. Apart from a quick blast on Saturday, yesterday was my first journey of about 40 miles.

Half way there and the warning engine control failure - go to dealer came up on the dash.

This time they better fix it or else it will be back for a full refund!

Trouble is I'm smitten with it.

On another point - full lock on reverse - sound from front suspension ???
