The GranCab is lovely, but the match-box sized boot pis5es me off and I'd feel a bit 'conspicuous' driving it with the roof down. Benny wears a trapper's hat, FFS. He's a special case and the better for it.

I like convertibles but men of a certain older age....me.....just looks like a cock behind the wheel......You will also notice most elderly gentlemen with convertibles seem to balding or wear a flat cap.......

In my latter 40s but would happily drive a rag to and to f u c k with what others think I look like... Im sure those people will think I look the same in any car.

I would have a GC if the boot was large enough to cope with a two week road trip... sadly its not; so I hope for a 90 Anniversary to come along and swap my GS in.

Also think it depends on the car as well...Some make you look more of a cock than others......

Just by sitting behind the wheel I can make any car look like a classless heap of sh!t. From £200k to “oh dear, how embarrassing” in less than 4 seconds. Even quicker in convertibles.

Does that count?

There are two large back seats for the overflow unless there are more than two of you on the trip. And the wind deflector sits nicely over any contents on the back seats to “protect†them

I doubt the mesh wind brake will keep many a thieving scally at bay... and my branded luggage set is rather pricy.

But the point is with the wind brake in place you can't see any so with the roof up as well it is probably as well protected as in the boot.

I can't believe you sold the car Adam. Shame Maserati don't build anything tempting, except Stradales. Which are holding value well. And easily would pass any man maths calculation.

Don't buy an Aston unless it's a DBS or Vanquish.

Don't buy a Ferrari unless it's a 599 or FF.

Don't buy a McLaren. Unless you enjoy having no soul.

You could buy the Mercedes AMG GT or SLS, I like those (but you will lose your shirt probably)

Don't but an M3/M4/M5/M6 or any other car named after a motorway. You can buy an M2 though, I like those.

You are free to buy any Lambo.

Don't buy any Porsche unless it's a GT2RS or the new GT3 Touring. They are so 1988. (Yeh, i'd probably still buy one and just tint the windows)

You can buy any Volvo. I like Volvos. Especially Polestar ones.

Don't but any Audi unless it's an R8 V12 GT and even then, it's due a refresh. Or an RS2, I like them.

There's a theme here and it's "buy a Stradale and stop kidding yourself"

:)

After six happy years together it was time for something new. The eldest lad's at uni and the youngest is planning to go in September and to be honest we seldom used the Maser 4-up for the last year or two. I've just put a deposit down on something English and with 12 naturally aspirated cylinders. It's unecessary, irresponsible and utterly fantastic.

Understand the logic. I am close to the same reasons why but would not know what to buy at the moment. Had my GTS 6.5 years which must be a record on here!

There is a DB9 coupe near me but they just look old now and a bit stretched plus the rear seats are useless. Your choice makes more sense once you get over the hurdle of computing that all these cars make no sense!

I’ve never had a car I want to keep this long before, Bob. It’s just immense and fantastic and better looking than anything. And the sound! With a layer of road grime it looks even better.

As you said, Maserati offers no aspirational “I want - no - I NEED that” car now. I love the Strad and I know it’s a different ride compared to the GTS but it still looks broadly the same in and out. It was time for something new. If I could have afforded an 8-speed Vanquish that would likely have won the toss. But I can’t.

Mine will go at some stage in the next two years once two seats are an option. I don't like the steering on modern Ferraris', Lambos are a bit in your face, McWoking's don't sound great and the new Astons look a bit tarty. Have started tracking new shape V10 R8 prices...

I think you will regret it but wtfdik?

It would have to be something very very special to replace the GTS and even the Vanquish left me cold in comparison.

I think that is true but there comes a point where a replacement car decides it is coming and - lets face it - Maserati are doing nothing to make that car come from Modena.
