Good points. Things that bite and sting can feck off, and Aussie beer is woeful (unless they keep the good stuff and export the rest as a joke).

Now there is something to that. We sell a wine called Yellowtail (I think) by mega gallons to the US but no one drinks it here!! Bit the same with Fosters and xxxx.... except of course for our brothers in Queensland who do actually think XXXX is ok! Now I know I will get a reaction from at least two Queenslanders on this Forum....

All my mates who emigrated drink something called VB and they seem to like it. Mind you, back here they drank Bud so not exactly connisuers!

XXXX you can keep and I drink Fosters when I am driving, says a lot.

I think I would have emigrated with them if it were not for meeting Rachel. Have had the discussion a few times but she's not interested, I think its too late now, the exchange rate has killed it.

Never been bitten by a spider, snake or other creepy crawlies and at least thirty beers to choose from....c'mon down and check it out.

I did, back in 2009. We have buddies in Sydney. I made a very in depth study of the beer. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it ;)

I really don't want to generalise, but I must have tasted 20+ and didn't find a single one that impressed me :(

Hopefully we'll be heading out again in 2014, so I will continue my studies for the public good.

Although i have a sister there in Perth I have never been attracted to even visit Oz. I just prefer Europe, its varied scenes, history, food, and architecture ...not to mention the culture. So for a beach with a big rock in the middle sounds a little uninteresting.

but for those who love it...long may it continue.

As you have both how different are the GT and GTS?

In summary I'd say the 4.2 lacks the power, noise and brakes of the 4.7 MC Shift.
Internally there's no difference, other then the size of the flappy paddles. There was no noticeable difference in the handling either.

It's horses for courses though. I was bitterly disappointed with my 4.2 as it wasn't what I was expecting it to be and hence swapped it after 9 weeks. My GTS on the other hand I had for nearly 2 years.

Knowing what the 4.2 is like now, I'd say it has its place. And when they hit £25k or less than that place is in my garage :) Because at that point it all comes down to what else you'd get for the money.

Went on a trip to the Lakes in May 2009 with a 4.2GT owner, David and Paul were there too.

The GT had a larini system on it and it sounded wonderful coming through the valleys.

Heheh. I liked Sydney very much. Like London only better in nearly every respect.

The food was far more consistently good than England (IME). The wine was OK. I confess, I prefer my wines very French than most of what I tasted in Oz, but I could live with it. People were super, architecture fascinating, and a thriving art scene. Weather was just about perfect for me as well :)

It is *such* a long way away, though.
