Any misfire with the coils will be picked up and stored in the ECU, get a code reader and see what there.

You should also get an engine light on too.

Plugged in an OBD 30 minutes ago, misfires registred but no codes.Thinking about buying a new coil and test it on each cylinder to see if it helps.Am i barking up the wrong tree or what do you think???

Just be wary of getting too mich unburnt fuel into the cats and check the wires as well...also the plugs are known to be affected by oil entering the housing/coil so check that as well.

Sounds like fuelling or plugs to me, but a new coil is probably a good place to start.

Thank you for your replies! No oil at all in the housing/plugs when i changed them yesterday. When you say fuelling Conaero,do you mean pressure or something else??

The best way to detect if there's a misfire is to sample the exhaust gas for CO and HC. A warmed up, healthy engine, will have close to zero of these type of emissions. A misfire will be dumping loads of unburnt fuel into the exhaust pushing by HC and CO up. Any decent garage will have an exhaust gas sampler.

I think i fixed it! Fiddled around under the hood and took these apart.Camshaft sensor wiring??Sorry but i can't recall what they are called, remember i'm Swedish:)Pulled the contacts apart and found oil inside!!Cleaned them thoroughly and put them back together...Result!! The car runs just as it should, probably not a permanent fix but if the misfire returns i'll know where too look first.20150514_142420.jpg

It is. I've had ECLs in the past because of this very thing; oil comes down the inside of the wiring insulation and into the connector.

No mate, just cleaned them out. I think the garage put a touch of silicon where the wires go into the connectors and I haven't had a problem since, which is over 3 years.

Thanks! Well i took the connectors apart again today, full of oil again...so i'll try some silicon too.

Did the silicon work? I have tried silicon but maybe not on right place as still oil coming through.

I think oil getting in to these connectors is pretty much universal. The connectors though act as an oil block which prevents the oil tracking even further along the wiring, which is probably the main reason for having the connector. The oil will only cause problems if interfering with the connection in the connector plug.

In the end mine was simply a coil pack needed replacing which sorted the rough running.

I had this yesterday AA man diagnosed no 4 coil pack so I ordered a new one £43 + vat for a bosch one , they do break down slowly because mine was sparking occasionally

They do. I swapped one out but can't recall which one. 2 I think

And that seems rather a lot less than I paid!

Yeah, Eurospares are about double that.....

You need the one with the flying lead attached.
