Grand Sport Width

You will get yours in fine with a bit of practice.

My 4C is wider than my GranSport was, the 4C won't get into my garage with the mirrors out but, when folded, I can still get it in and out comfortably without touching the sides (oo-er).

Pretty sure my garage entrance is 2m also.

I daren't ask. If I cant get it in, would it be okay outside with one a good cover and maybe one of those car port canopy things.

It's fine outside. Just keep it clear of leaves, get the underside treated (Emblem in Poole do it) and give it a good coating of wax.

Peter - I agree with that. A garage is nice and a nice garage is a joy, but not critical.

My nearest dealership leaves dozens of high-end cars outside, uncovered, for days or weeks on end so I'm guessing that they are basically weather-proof. I impulsively think that Italian cars, if left out in the elements on a regular basis, may be more prone to rust ... but it probably isn't true!

Any car kept outside will never be as dry as a car kept in a garage, cover or not.
If its damp outside, the car will be exposed to the damp.
If its a car that will be used infrequently, especially in the damp and soggy winter months, consider a outdoor carcoon.

I had one for a number of years and it worked very well when all I had was a concrete prefab garage with no heating until I built a proper garage.

Think I may be on a hiding to nothing - I maybe should put up some photos,
If I stand at the end of my drive - 20 yards to the west is my garage - 150 yards to the east is the North East Sea - probably not a good location for outside storage of a supercar.
Saying that my 9yr old 150k Passat doesn't seem to have been that badly affected. Just starting to bubble on front arches.

Just on garage sizes, make sure you check the depth!
Our double garage is under the house, and one side is deeper than the other, with a store built behind the shorter side.
Before buying the Maserati I had my Stag on the long side, and my Elise on the short, the Elise on the short side had plenty of room to walk infront and behind.
When I sold the Elise, I knew if I bought a Maserati it would be too long for the short side, having measured it, no problem, the Stag could live on the short side...but I never thought to check!
The day I bought the Maserati, was the first time I moved the Stag to the short side, and when the sectional door came down I was shocked when it missed the rear bumper by only quarter of an inch, the front bumper was tight up against the end wall too!
So always check!!

Think I need a cardboard cut out of 4200 / GS (width wise) to walk up and down my drive with.

I am thinking - undersealed, waxed, indoor perma bag and in the garage. lol.

Well, here is the offending article - the better news is I have just measured it and the door is 206cm.

So thats 2060 - 1822 = 238mm = 119mm either side - so basically 4" (Still tight)

How is it for manouvering the GS at low speed into garages, parking spaces etc.

As I understand its hard to control / manouvre at low speed as once its engaged its going and you would have to control on the break.

Just measured mine to see if it helps. Mine's 214cm and my GS goes in fine with the mirrors out and a couple of inches either side. Manoeuvring is fine once you get used to it, just gentle use of the throttle required. The drive disengages as soon as you lift off the gas at slow speed. I presume you've checked the length as well!

Thanks for that so I would possibly need to pull mirrors in to be safe.

Yeah - There is about 1m 50 ish on the length.

Apologies for the poor grammar "break" what was I thinking - must be auto speller thing!

How sad - Just been sat pondering looking at a tape measure.

I reckon nearly 5" either side is enough. Nose in with mirrors in, As soon as in up to driver - mirrors out then watch the back end in.

Simples, or maybe I should go for a 3200, 1821 wide - thats a full mm saved there, lol!!!

I was initially concerned about the issue of squeezing a GS into my garage before i bought it. It was very tight getting my old E92 3 Series in and the GS is a couple of inches wider than that.

Having done some measuring much like yourself i decided to risk it. I wasn't sure if the cambio corsa gearbox would give me the manoeuvrability that i enjoyed with a manual clutch but its actually pretty effective and wasn't too bad to get used to. For the first few times getting the car in i would strongly recommend having someone you trust to watch. If you choose to reverse in (as i do) the shape of the rear arches can play tricks with your mind and make you veer off course a little. If you are like me then without someone watching you until you build confidence you will be convinced the sound of crunching metal is not far away!

Once you have done it a few times make some marks on the floor so you know where your wheels should be. They will also serve a guide lines to help you line the car up correctly. Sounds silly but i learned the hard way that garages can bite with one of my previous cars...

Thanks for that Jayblue - some sound advice - I would have to get the wife to watch me in and out - at our previous house I used to have some stoppers on the end of string hanging from the garage roof which when touched the windscreen indicated I was far enough in to shut the doors without crushing lawn mowers and bikes etc.
If I was a bit cleverer I would be able to scale and fit a GS image on the door but the 3 planks do for now!
